Socceroos vs Canada/USA Oct 25

Tbf, Ross county isn’t what is on the mind when someone says ‘playing in Europe’ 😂

My friend, her husband played there and was even asking me if I reckon he could get a game in our league 🙃
Is that you Hutcho?

Bet counts.

Finally have finished watching the Aus v USA game.

Gee they’ve improved technically since we played them in a friendly 10-14 years ago.

We said that about Holman & he's not even starting in League 2 in England
There are always a few players who play at some stage in their career at a lower level than they should be.

From watching both Nisbet and Jake Hollman, both should not be not too far from Socceroo discussions.

I think Hollman is superior to a lot of former teammates and countrymen who have gone to decent leagues in Europe. Aus underage national team coaches, and AL coaches, recognise his ability.

I've posted this before...

I spoke with John Hutcho about him before he went to Ross County. He said: I love Nizz, he's a brilliant player, but his height's against him. Coaches overseas won't even look at him. If an OS coach buys an Australian, they want strength, athleticism, power and the unrelenting Aussie will to win. They don't need tidy ball players like Nizz, they've already got thousands of those.

He went on to make me a bet that Nizz will never play 50 matches in Europe.

I happily made that bet and he must be at least halfway to winning it for me.
Thanks for posting this, Mr C.

Nis needs to stay here. Good player!

From watching USA I think they can go to last 8 or last 4 in WC. They’ve also had plenty of tough battles against Mexico to battle harden them.

I think our best is last 16. Although pointed out off forum yesterday, we pushed Arg in the round of 16 in Qatar. Our high point in football.

Was that the one where Jason Culina got frustrated with someone showboating him and kicked out. I laughed my head off because he always complain at people getting pissed off at him showboating and would hack at him.

I can’t remember that incident, PJ?

It could have been?

I posted on Big Soccer then. American fans claimed the US national team only counterattacked - and they were sick of it!

This current US team maintains possession well.

There were a few good things for Aus.

- Bos and Iran’s ball carrying and dribbling.

- Italiano for mine, has improved. He is neater on the ball than Miller.

Not so good - a few former NPL players / coaches have lambasted both Boyle and D’Ag to me off forum. Live I agree.

Not sure if compiling stats anything positive will show up? D’Ag is now 27 too. Thought he was younger.

Didn’t watch post match, but ostensibly US players thought Aus was a dirty team!

I heard an interview with him. In some ways he claimed the physicality of the league was what attracted him. i.e. to prove he could mix it in a rough league. I thought it was a strange move but if he can score a move to the Dutch first division they will have no doubts that he can handle the rough stuff.
Interesting?

It is a shame as I feel the likes of Nisbet and Hollman could be suited to Popa's 'hybred' winger/am roles.
Hopefully Segecic and Milanovic are banging the door down come November.

I can find one tweet about 27 players but hopefully it's right. Given the heat and injury rate it'd be nice to have and eases our selection pressure that bit more.

That's great news for us given we take 10 defenders. It'll allow us to select another midfielder or forward. We were always so skint in the middle in our squads.

Just watched the BRI v MAC game.

Brsibane down a man for 40 mins. Caceres, Ikonomidis & Brattan with heaps of ball but no end product. How on earth did Popa pick these guys. They all peaked low and offer nothing these days.
