Socceroos vs Canada/USA Oct 25

Genuinely, how does Daggers get a start when Robbo can't even make the team, Robbo would make a 5x stronger impact than Daggers in this match. Rough lineup.

Feels like one of those games where we are terrible for the first 60 minutes and Bos is our only outlet until we rush on Irankunda and Toure for the last 30 minutes.

Perhaps Robbo isn't fit. Popa is very strict on fitness

Not in all respects - to me he is saying "Prove it" to them. I am hopeful that he is using all these friendlies to weed the squad and replace the plants that struggle.

I am also really happy to see D'Agostino get a run. As a former Roar player I have a fondness for him and I'd like him to do well.

I can understand not putting Irankunda on as a starter. He needs to learn there are repercussions to losing composure and the US would certainly have him in their nasty tactical sights to rile him up. Find the weakness and exploit it.

All that said - it is a horrid frontline :)

Hopefully Robbo’s enjoying the weather change. 23 degrees in Colorado sounds a bit nicer than England this time of year
 
Gosh Paramount is shitting me off. I have it on my second monitor at my work desk. Everytime I click on the other monitor it minimises the Paramount window (sound and vision)

Except when "commercial in progress" of course

Victory and Popa coached. We know that is how Popa leans.

D'Agostino is an odd choice though - looks like he has only played 3 games (1 goal) for Vikings in 2025 but maybe Wikipedia is missing information.

I don't think that's the reason Irankunda isn't starting. They are just trying other options. Popovic was actually happy with how Irankunda handled himself a few weeks ago with Watford after being subbed off and then following up in a casual manner the next game, Popa excused the behaviour and was understanding. Similarly, his "crash out" against Canada didn't seem as genuine or deep, just heat of the game and a little bit of an act rather than genuine anger and Popa said the following substitution was already in place before Irankunda's moment. Also worth mentioning there were 5/6 other Australians who were also "losing composure" in the last 30 minutes due to Canada's instigation.


The actual "repercussions" are of a player like Irankunda who plays with genuine emotion and you see it in every part of his game, it's the reason he can attack with so much power because he really wants to score with every fibre in his body and that's why he is so good and that comes with being ready to put his body on the line. Popa is clearly a big fan of Irankunda as of late, and he is just trying out other options and resting him. Let's not act like Irankunda wasn't our best outfield player against Canada, because he was. You don't "punish" that.
 
So just confirming from what I can see on the live rankings website:

A loss will see us lose a spot to Austria.
A draw will push us ahead of Ecuador.
A win will push us ahead of both Ecuador and Korea.
 
And surely you see how we struggled with the two midfielders handling the press and providing outlets and you have someone on the team "Alex Robertson" who is skilled in absorbing pressure and moving the ball forward but you don't even put that player on the bench when we will probably need him.
 
I wonder if the Americans will boo the anthem in protest to the WWE event in Perth hahaha
 
well lets just see how we play with all the should have mentions.
It is after all a friendly run though I know important - he sure is mixing up the playing list.
I'm on the fence also on some but we got a pretty good size pool atm.

I have been sceptical of Popovic for pretty much every game he has been in charge. His selections have always seemed to include choices which I never thought were on the table. He has proven that I know very little about the world game and I hope he proves me wrong again today.
