Socceroos vs Canada/USA Oct 25

Decisions decisions. Game at 3am. Teaching from 8 until lunch then in evening again. I'll watch live. This is good World cup practice.

Ive got no early morning class at least

That was why Wally Lewis was called "The King" in Rugby League SOO. He instinctively knew when the big moments were on and made the move accordingly.
During covid i rewatched his origin matches

He really was special rather than overhyped. Not really a player as good as him at origin in 45 years

Ah damn Saudi Iraq is also on tonight. I've got to watch that though...

Saudi qualify with a goalless draw. Arnold tactics with Iraq players is a hard watch.

Data has its place but it's the big moments which decide games.
Big moments decide games, I agree.

But stats and data recorded over time by humans, show trends - and also strengths and weaknesses of all players.

I’m at the 69 min mark. Bos has just come on and looks good with his searing pace, ball carrying, dribbling, against a tiring Buchanan and Canada in general, after Rowles has been a stiff defensive opponent. I think they’ve just taken Buchanan off.

The left flank has suddenly become a good attacking outlet for Aus. It has caught Canada out. ATM Bos has been the most decisive sub. Miller and Yazbek haven’t had the same impact.

Haven’t totalled Balard’s stats yet, but it looks like another decent shift. All those CCM supporters singing his praises have been right.

ATM O’Neill, who has been a great 1v1 ball winner in previous matches, is in the negative ledger and has had a poor game in terms of ball winning and breaking up attacks.

Circati and Deg have also lost a few duels against some big, strong Canadian forwards.

It's wild Daggers gets a start. I'm happy for him. Prefer him over Duke for this game simply because we know what Duke offers. That said, probably doesn't deserve it compared to other options not in the squad. No Irankunda or Toure looks far less dangerous up top.

No Robertson. Poppa applying similair approach to what he did with Segecic etc to see them first in camp. Let’s hope it’s more of a Balard outcome than a Triantis one. Robertson hasn’t played much of late so I am not too stressed.
