Soccer Ashes thread

Any word on when Popa will announce the squad? Usually we get some sort of teaser on when the official announcement will be, but there's been nothing. Surely has to be this week.

Just hoping Popa's having a good long think about a certain inclusion that caused a stir with the U23's squad announcement 🤞
Teasers are being dropped but nothing yet apart from a cryptic comment yesterday

Your Subway #Socceroos squad for the #SoccerAshes is coming soon… 👀

But first, enjoy every angle of THAT iconic Aziz Behich goal from our last game on home soil 😮‍💨

It's past 10am AEST Thursday.... isn't that when squad announcements are made?

According to AI there's a chance we'll know who's in the squad either today, tomorrow, or some time next week.....

AI Overview

"Coming soon" is a phrase meaning something will arrive or become available in the near future, though the exact timing is not specified. It is frequently used in marketing to build anticipation for new products, services, or events by indicating they are on their way but not yet ready.

Key Aspects
  • Imminent Arrival: It signals that something is expected to happen or be released shortly.

  • Vague Timing: While it suggests proximity, it doesn't provide a precise date or time.

  • Purpose: In advertising and business, it generates interest and excitement before a product, service, or event is officially launched.

  • Versatile Use: It can apply to various things, such as a movie, a store's new product, a website, or even a real estate listing.
Examples
  • "The director's next film is coming soon to theaters".

  • "Check our website for updates on the new software, which is coming soon".

Press conference at 11am Friday it appears.

Everything in Popovic's career suggests he likes no frills players who put their heads down and do a job. Much as he was as a player. He seems congenitally suspicious of maverick talents like Irankunda. He doesn't like selecting players he hasn't worked with before. If choosing between flair or function, he will always choose function, and be proud of it. He is a deeply conservative coach, and he has a hide like a Sherman tank.

A good coach to qualify facing ordinary teams, a questionable choice of coach for World Cup finals.

My view only, of course.

TBH doesn't really matter when announced, I'm sure it will be good and not so good who's starting up.

Nomates who you rolling with on this one ?
1-1 draw in Canberra and 2-0 NZ in Auckland.
