Rant thread

Probably most suitable thread. They can get stuffed. Bad enough in UK now with most eateries and pub roasts having 10%-15% added on. Australian wages are more suitable. Germany now has this stupid limbo where products are overpriced but round up is still expected. The USA charges as much if not more than Australia for the same products and still expect a tip on top.

What I hate about Germany is you look at a 13,50€ Pizza and a 5,70€ beer and you just think a full 20 for all that is too much and you get guilt tripped into putting some more coins in. They increased the minimum wage by 14% and prices went up more than that.

What is it with Aussies guy in their 20-30s go to a sporting match and speak absolutely shite.

I've had it at the tennis last night but seen it plenty of times at football. They sit with their mates and think they know everything oooo why's he done that! That's not offside. There crappy jokes as well all match like where do people get their confidence to just chat absolutely nothing in public.

I just try to not eavesdrop once it's clear it's drivel. I was at Wembley when Australia played and Bos came on and there were people there saying we just be so shit if we're picking him. They'd forgotten he'd been in the Asian Cup squad and had performed well against Argentina in China.

Hannover games too or at a pub you hear their ideas on the sport and while I'm not the most knowledgeable, you hear some very warped stuff.

Sounds like your average casual sports fan.

In 2026 German media and society are discussing how to use self service checkouts due to it being a new concept shows how far behind and slow change it. They'll only ever open one checkout and have 12 people in a queue. Thankfully self service is become more common now but you get looked at like a zombie waltzing past everyone to the self service.

Mark Schwarzer said in a podcast he wanted to buy something. Three checkouts open but everyone queuing at a single one. This was former East Germany where queuing was very normal but you still see it today with airports and other places with the delusional acceptance that fewer staff and wasting your time in lines is how it should be.

Meanwhile you've got these people who think they're the cool new minds with modern ways and tech in the world of work and governmental business. The issue is the infrastructure isn't there and the will to invest or even try it is low and then regulations about getting things started slow it all down.

German blokes in a mid-life crisis don't buy a Mercedes anymore. They buy E Bikes. This allows them to think they own the road, the footpath and the forest path. Bunch of nonces.

I admire the technology as a handy way to get around. How are E Bikes going in Australia?

I loathe self serve checkouts. All that casual work gone for people starting out and entering the work force.

I remember one night I was at Coles and they had no checkouts open. There was an elderly woman just about in tears because there was no-one there and she didn't know how to use self service.

I went and found the useless store manager who had been hitting on the same mum since I got in the store. He went and served her.

That's common, not a soul on the checkouts.

I don't mind self service as an option for people who want it but not at the expense of service staff.

They are getting heavier, they used to bounce at least 20-30 meters off my bullbar... now I have to pick the little shits up off the road and drag them to the side to keep driivng.

Out of control. E-Bikes and E-Scooters. There have been a lot of deaths. They're currently cracking down on illegal ones that have removed the speed limiter. QLD thinking about banning them for under 16s. I think they need to license them.

They have a place for people who can't afford cars anymore. I bought my first car for 4k cash. Old Commo off a Syrian bloke in Thomastown haha. You can barely buy a shitbox for 10k now and running costs are higher.

I feel for this generation entering the work force. Everythings that bit harder. It's hitting a breaking point I think.

At least Australia plenty of staff and open checkouts before self service. That was a good thing for young workers and they also packed the bags at a good pace.

My issue is German supermarkets will be packed, have only one or max two checkouts open while you have to pack your bags quickly and a lot of people want to pay exact change. This is where self checkout for small purchases works well.

The same staff are expected to shelf stock, clean and assist customers. I see Australian stores at least having a lot of floor staff but there could be even more with checkouts.

The main goal needs to be a happy place to shop and understaffing is quick way to make it a frustrating place.

In Australia it's a load of shit, workers are paid well enough for cheap fuck businesses to not have to outsource their operational costs.

British places now too 'An optional 15% gratuity will be added to the bill and is shared across all staff'. When you see you're already paying a decent amount for a pizza, just have them slap a bit more on for themselves.
