Radio Silence from APL

Fair point and very strange. Should at least engage with podcasts

Might get asked some tough questions if they actually talked to some football people.
To be honest I kinda prefer the silence these days. Conroy may not be a politician anymore but he still talks like one. I'd rather be spared the spin and corporate puffery.

The clubs cant live off $550k a season for the next 2 years, somethings got to give.

Have barely heard anything in the media from Nick Garcia, Stephen Conroy etc.. for months

What is the APL's new strategy after blowing 140 mil? Fans deserve better

Not sure but were those two guys there when the cash was blown? Maybe the only people who could answer that are the club reps who haven't resigned yet. I think there have been one or two articles with rough figures about how the money was spent.

But yeah these "strategies" aren't made public early enough. They did announce that they wanted 16 teams for next season, but it's been crickets since the constipated Canberra have been holding everything up.

Can't remember the last time McDonalds CEO or someone from Taco Bell fronted the media or went on a podcast to explain next years menu to customers either... Not sure what sort of information you all believe you are entitled too?

Fair enough

But corporate bodies are usually accountable to shareholders to maximise profit

Maccas probably have nothing to gain by talking to people, whereas the apl probably do. Apl have a massive advantage over maccas eaters in that their costumers care about them making a profit

Graz, maccas talk to their customers weekly daily, countless promotions, ads, marketing you name it.
Thats communicating to your market on top of background surveys done etcetc.....
Its another franchise system just diff commodity, Harvey Normans you name it, all same same in principle business acuman and management.
IF your Franchisor isn't doing their job, ie offering their franchisee the tools to trade and make good turn over your a lame duck Franchisee plain and simple.
I've worked in a Franchise HQ and to this day do business with quite a few of them in my industry.

Be thrilled if the apl did that level of communication. Even if it is nonsense corporate speech to be honest, anything is better than this deer in headlights silence

So do Maccas eaters.... if they want Maccas to be around so they can continue eating that is.....

Do APL fans really want the owners to make a profit? Thats wiild? Why would they care about some foreigner making money? Aren't they more concerned about the ownership group sepnding money hand over fist to keep their franchise alive?

Yes if they make a profit the league is less likely to collapse in a heap and more likely to increase player salaries and grow

Take the Brisbane Roar franchise. It apparently cost's them $130K per match to hire the Queensland Government's "best football (Rugby League) stadium in the world".....

With less than 6,000 paying customers at most games they barely break even on just the stadium costs.

This pointless franchise must be losing bundles of coin....<snigger, snigger>
