Poppa Out

I guess what I was trying to get at is that he isn't setting us up to play attacking football, but part of the blame also rests with his appointment. He was always going to set us up to play like that, and those that appointed him would have known that

So Popa should have said: "You're mad if you appoint me." ?
 
I think you need a full xi in either the big 5 or champions league level (e.g. psv) for attacking football to be a net positive. I guess for the next appointment fa have to decide if we get there by 2030. Curious if the forum thinks we will. Im hoping we do

Wish john anastadiatis got a go with an a league club. Only coach who has shown he can punch above his weight against superior teams and beat up weaker teams. But no way you hire someone who hasnt had a fully pro gig

and players all around the field with good progressive passing stats. Part of the reason Ange didn't work out at spurs was because they lack progressive passers

Curiously i dont think robbo is that progressive despite his technical excellence

Of course not, as I said I can hardly blame him to an extent. What I'm saying is FFA had at one stage a long term plan to move the Socceroos to an attacking style of proactive football based on research as to what works to get us to progress beyond just making up the numbers or only getting out of the group. They then appoint a coach well known for not playing that style, in fact the opposite. The reasons most likely being that they were looking at the immediate qualification troubles, and because they desperately need the FIFA group progression dollars to stay afloat. I worry though that if they keep on doing this we will never evolve into a Norway, Switzerland or even Belgium. This issue though touches on some bigger issues of player development and league format, that are beyond Poppa and talk to FFAs role

Same, would he be on decent coin at Heidelberg? Regardless deserves a chance.
 
I reckon give Milligan the gig though if he can get a tune out of some of Newy's latest signings, like Patrick Wood.

Jap has been talked of a standard for years another but they got outed.
Lonnng way to go for our lot - long way and importantly young age need to be playing in EU for starters in top leagues.

I think Football Australia understand they can't make the coin that they need to without having blockbuster players scoring blockbuster goals.

I think this combined with the FA statements after our exit show that the FA will ship Tony out unless we start seeing these growing superstars be given the opportunities to become the actual superstars we all so desperately want them to be.

Look I really hope so. Think that after this WC some players will move up and hoping they get regular playing time. However even Cabo Verde was able to score more goals than us, and I think, will be corrected?, had only one less shot all WC, and a heap of their players play in nothing leagues, so while league is important maybe whatever CV was doing-coach?planning?etc can also help turn us around as I bet we have more players playing at a higher level than them
