Didn’t that end up being in effect only for the ‘95-‘96 pre-season before it was rescinded in favour of the Ericsson Cup name?I thought this might be about the NSL rebranding to A-League in the 90s![]()
He does some good content about Asian football to be fair. He used to live in Australia. I think he even did some Australia Cup and NPL videos. Was gonna say this bloke must be Aussie or really love Ange - then realised where he is from lol
I dont think you are allowed to be Australian if you dont live here anymore. Unless you are for some reason but not for another? Its hard to keep up with all the outrage. Was gonna say this bloke must be Aussie or really love Ange - then realised where he is from lol

Ha just realised it. Was watching some videos on that channel and accidentally copied that link too.Didn’t that end up being in effect only for the ‘95-‘96 pre-season before it was rescinded in favour of the Ericsson Cup name?
I recall Melbourne Knights played a friendly against a J-League club(forgot which one) during that period; the matchday-program identified Croatia/Knights as being from the Australian A-League*
*Johnny Warren in his book also briefly mentioned the shortlived name-change.
What’s the first vid’s relevance to the topic![]()

Yeah I nearly snorted out my coffee when I saw "A-League" mentioned in a 90s yearbook! It seems to have popped up around 1995 and lingered to 2003, although some had returned to calling it NSL by then.
Im pretty sure I would have made some crack about "Hellas was the first Aleague Champion in 1997-98" or something to that regard.Well I spotted a couple of yearbooks calling the NSL league "A-League" in the latter 90s. I think I might've written about this on the old forum. @Monoethnic Social Club might've told the story.
