Really don’t think in their wildest dreams the club would have started the season expecting to be in this position come November, again they’re akin to an eastern lions or something getting promoted to and winning the npl and playing some good football along the way

I still stand by a comment I made a few months ago... Im happy for an NPL champion winning team to go far in this competition as it gives the other NPL clubs around Australia a bit of a carrot to aim for next year....

Not at our expense naturally though :)

I want them to wear this ... and have that man as a mascot (if they cannot get that shouty weatherman from back in the day)
and there's that face why called Bulldog haha - when he was going to line up you knew it and way smarter than that git musky.
Great strip of the day, thought their logo was different and popped - but no SoS this Spirit give em credit but doesn't deserve that history.
Bulldog does live over the northside - Leichardt not too far to travel I sure wish he'd be there tomorrow.
I enjoyed being at Nth Syd oval, Percy's pub right across the road, perfect for pre game prep haha....
My mate's company was a shirt sponser those days, get into the grandstand popping crowny's.
I used to think how good is this having arnold and bulldog late in their retirment stage on the pitch amongst some very well known locals/up and comers check the link below

I live in Sydney for a year in 1998/1999. I worked at Milson Point .... my co worker was a big soccer fan.

Guess where I was every second Friday night!!

The subs may be even more important.

I assume we have Lavalle, Menelaou, plus Dovison and Leech.

And no Khaddour nor Habib?
Habib didn’t go out on international duty he could of played against Morton city but was rested

Good points raised.

Having a Lavale and Habib come off the bench in case we are looking for goals is a positive about squad depth.

I'm a fan of Lavale and think he has alot to offer.

haha big days, it was packed back then.
Great areas for work - plenty of good pubs/nightclubs/transport - football up the road and then your back down south haha

I would say that 1998/1999 was the last great year for the NSL.

South Melbourne were in their prime
Perth Glory continuing on with their great crowds
Sydney United had re-emerged with a new team
Northern Spirit proving that 'mainstream' appeal was possible for Sydney/Melbourne

I felt like it was ok until it got taken off tv. The last 2 years were the worst.
