Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

We resorted to a bit of Esteball at times and some of the gaps in midfield were alarming, but a lot of positives to take away as well. The new boys did well with Uchida being the obvious standout. I thought Mikkola was dissapointing outside the long throw and as the norm for him copped a dumb yellow, think Bilal replaces him after international duty but that may depend on how desperate Siki is for the long throw.

Have some serious concerns over Painter Andrews brain fades.

Uchida is the best technical player i've seen in a South shirt since Fernando and im not exagerating, felt at complete ease everytime he was on the ball.

Gotta back up and make sure we win at home again next week. Crowd obviously wont be as big but hopefully 75-80% of main stand fills up.

You raise some good points, but i think the pressure to get a result and the jitters got the best of the boys tonight as can be understood being the occasion it was. midfield had some fantastic linking at times but also had some moments of brain fade/ bad decisions on the ball, a lot of which has to do with not knowing eachother yet also and i think that is what made mikkola look worse than perhaps he was tonight having been.spoilt by him being consistently good (i dont think he was bad except the yellow moment) ... .Uchida is pure class (has to be careful not to overkill it with the ball at his feet), I think Pasquali also stood out in the middle bar some combination issues. Lavale for me looked raw but stoked he scored, Aguek looked more aggressive and dangerous. Bonada chaotically good as always..agree on Andrews but we had some shaky bits across the back at different times.
Boys will find their feet more and more... exciting times!

Hellas is back !!

What a night that was. Great atmosphere at Lakeside. Well done to the club for the pre and post match organisation. This had a real positive and buzzing feel before kick off. Music, retro tops stand, food trucks, coffee and sweets stands was great. It just got you in the mood for the night ahead.

Football department has brought in some great quality into this squad. Uchida, Lavale and Pasquali were huge. Bonada battled away and our defence was trying its best to hold out what was a very good Olympic front third. Painter-Andrews had a few bad moments, but needs to work on his focus and minimising errors.

First half was always going to be about not being behind on the scoreboard. With so many new players, it was obvious they need more time to get used to paying with each other. Second half was a much better performance.

Must say, there were some great goals scored. Both of Olympic’s goals were great. Lampard’s goal to seal the 3 points was special.

There were a lot of positives last night. Great attacking football. Very good player signings, with Habib and Khaddour to return from international duty, plenty of fans returning, and a great positive feeling through the stadium.

The club needs to focus on improving the situation with the food trucks, as I heard people were waiting up to an hour for a souvlaki. Maybe more food outlets are needed to spread out the demand. Perhaps 2-3 food zones to help keep the crowds spaced out.

This is just the beginning.

Respect to all the fans who have supported their club over the years despite the struggles.

So after a 6000+ crowd against Sydney Olympic, what do we expect for a crowd next Sunday ? What is considered a good attendance figure?

3,000-3500 would be decent. Although Sunday afternoon is more appealing to families compared to an early Friday evening start time.
If we could attract that kind of crowd against a team like Moreton, then makes a massive statement of what we can bring to this competition.
