Which positions were those players in ?

We can’t sign any WUFC players yet as they are still contracted players. Until the A League licence is finally withdrawn, only then can we pick up any scraps.

No clue all I was told we have 3 players signing with us

What a joke of a performance! No hunger (or ability to perform) from the fringe players that shouldve wanted to prove a point given this opportunity... Brennan shouldnt get on the park again for South ...
Some of them weren't too bad

  • Spink: Thought he was fantastic. Was a big reason we kept it to 5 and not 9 or 10, love his desperation to defend. Would keep.
  • Inglese: What the hell has happened to him this year? Miles off where he was last year, hardly saw him hit a pass
  • Brennan: Was actually decent on the ball early and worked hard defensively at times. Unfortunately was gassed after about 30 mins and was kept out there way too long, looked like he was running on a treadmill in the second half. Was directing the young players well.
  • Halfpenny: Long way off his best form. Would not be renewing his contract.
  • Nagamatsu: Been a very disappointing last month from him. Gone is the sharp touch he showed in his first few games
  • Menelaou: Liked him. Very strong and physical over the ball and never gave up, hope we keep hold of him
  • O Sullivan: Garbage. No idea why he's had so many chances this year, he's state league standard at best. How the hell did he make it to National League in the UK?
  • Mesourouni: Garbage. Worst player on the field. Some of his turnovers were comical.
  • Evans: How the hell has he clung to a career at South for so long? Can't believe it's taken till this year for him to fall out of favour. Surely that's the last game he plays!
  • Dovison: Worked hard. Probably our best RW at this point in time, appreciated his determination to run both ways
  • Charleston: Hung out to dry by Inglese and Evans. Prefer him to Pithoulas, but would be upgrading over the offseason if possible

Papadimitriou: Was tidy on the ball.
Killick: Liked his energy.
Head: Didn't really notice him
Durso: Probably his best effort for the year tbh. Beat a few defenders with his dribbling. There's a player there somewhere, just needs confidence and time (don't think he'll get either of those things at South)
Gorr-Burchmore: Didn't really notice him

Outside of Spink and Menelaou, not a massive fan of our depth unfortunately

I would disagree, I think halfpenny and Inglese held their own. Evans had glimpses too. These young boys were hung out to dry with the squad selection and 'impact subs' coming off the bench, many of which were given debuts. Also remembering that the boys arguably should've gone into the break at 0-0. Yes it wasn't a pretty performance, but still a lot of positives to take away from this. Mind you they played against a full strength Avondale team who just beat Apia 3-1 mid week (who are 3rd in NPLNSW with a game in hand to move into 2nd) .

Halfpenny is an ok squad player.

Inglese has fallen off a cliff, despite his size he looked petrified challenging for aerial balls, sometimes even pulling out. Compare him to a smaller sized Spink who puts his body on the line i know who im keeping.

Evans has not played a decent game for over 2 years. A lot of dead wood needs to be cut from this team.

Yeh the effort was ok and Avondales 1st goal clearly didnt cross the line so it could have been 0-0 at the half.

I maintain our attack cant fire if Bonads isnt there, his pace, hold up play and general energy cant be replaced, we struggled bad without him for months and we look a 30% worse team without him there. You can even go back to the Australia cup semi last yr against Macarthur, when Bonada came off injured around the hour mark that was the end of us.

Interestingly against Heidelberg a few weeks back the only proper seniors we started with were Lopez, Marshall, Painter Andrews, Leech and Bonada and we were super competitive. If you wanna play your depth they gotta have experience around them. Its not like Avondale that have 16 gun players in every matchday squad.

100% agree on the dead wood
Incredible that Evans has played 16 games this year
Halfpenny 12
Durso 14
O Sullivan 6
Mesouroni 9
Inglese 19

These guys should be break glass emergencies at best for a club like South

Are we going to forget about the 2 goal line clearances from Inglese in the first half? Spink is solid and a great addition to the team I completely agree. If we're going to mention last year, let's not fail to mention the fact that Inglese stepped up in the Dockerty Cup GF and scored the winning penalty. Similar to Dovison's heroics this year. We need to persist with some of these home grown talents as it seems in many of the big games they have stepped up and proved their worth. It seems as though much of the recent silverware for the club has been produced by home grown talent.

I thought Inglese was excellent last year but i dont think hes kicked on this year. Could also be a confidence thing but technically on the ball he isnt very good either. His stint playing up front rattled him, especially after his open goal miss against Pascoe Vale.

Anyhow as it stands we are miles off the best teams in this league, a lot of work needed moving forward.

Messourouni getting any minutes is a complete pisstake, we dont look like a serious football club, i dont care how much $$$ his old man has pumped inti the club.

Spink, Dovison and Menealou are the only ones im keeping.

Unfortunately Nagamatsu has come up against the likes of Avondale and Heidelberg in recent times and been a non event, whilst we've seen Bonada torment those 2 teams.

100% going for Fornaroli now if possible.
I would also be keeping Durso... he showed a little bit last night and isn't the worst option to bring on against tired defenders - similar to Skapoulas

Agreed, but Inglese's aerial work and passing were hideous particularly compared to Spink
That said, I'm in favour of keeping the other young lads we've promoted throughout the year (still annoyed we lost Francou)

Francou leave or injured?

I think i agree on all the above except Brennan... the expiry date has long come and gone IMO. Too many games where its bordering liability levels when he is on the ball.. turnovers too often and no essence to his game for a long time now!

I have a feeling that might be lights out for Andy.... maybe a bench appearance with a final trot in the last 20 mins against Oakleigh?

To add to that it continues to highlight the disconnect between the club and the supporters, those who rocked up deserved more.
Absofrickenlutely we DO....

Who gives a shit about pretty posters on the social club wall, we put out 3 debutantes AGAINST Avondale???? .. OK I get that it was a go nowhere game but have the balcony boys got no shame?

Yeah was happy to see him get the captaincy for his last ever home game and thought he actually put in a couple of good balls early on (at least compared to his recent form) but I would assume this weekend is the end... been a great servant of the club, would be nice if we could get a few there to thank him for his efforts

Brennan has to go if we are serious about making any meaningful inroads. Just ask yourself how many of our squad yesterday would make Avondales bench? Im gonna say maybe Spink and thats it. Its a heavy shirt that we cant just be handing out to anyone.
Once Menelaou has some more fitness I'd be keen to see him starting more often
Was amazed at just how far off O'Sullivan was off the standard - how the hell did that bloke make the National League in England? I don't think I saw him complete a dribble

Exactly that...above all it was disrespectful! Wasnt going to match against oakleigh for well known reasons, now its certain i wont go out of principal and bot waste my money given i dont know what type of side we will field...
This whole year has been disrespectful and a waste of our money ... They beg and plead for us to "stay loyal" and stick with the club and then go and treat the whole thing like some sort of marketing promotional personal vendetta against the scummy clubs.....

They clearly don't give a flying fuck about you or me or the other die hard idiots that turn up EVERY week, they wanna make a good impression infront of the pimps and whores outside Vanilla....... NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!!!!

When October rolls around and there are an extra 2-3 thousand people at games... every moron that turned up week in week out will be "replaced" by the event going wannabe "Hellas all my life but I have to put Lakeside in Google maps to find the joint" crowd... Just so shit....
