Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

all jokes aside, its interesting considering the club said at the forum that the 15mill will be too much that they're commiting to this. The question now being is there a way that the club could bargain down the 15 mill fee somehow maybe to even 5 mill considering we've applied before for licenses around similar ammounts. as much as 13 teams with a bye is a hassle its not secret that the FFA wants the 13th spot filled and a club that is already prepared ready to go would be ideal.

They'll get rejected time and time again simply because of the history of not paying staff and players. I know none of you want to hear this and You'll all respond with having a dig at Oakleigh as usual.

If i was them, id focus all my attention on trying to win the Australia cup. Win that and you prove you can compete with the a league teams, They'll probably overlook souths payments history.

They wont be rejected. South wont be able to afford the license fee. Every club at some point has not paid staff/players, its nonsense.

I'm sure they'll come up with the money, id expect sponsors to come on board probably

Thank you for your sage legal advice, Im sure the club will take your suggestions seriously.

We don't have $15 million, so we cant go with the cash option. It would need to be an alternate arrangement with a different cost structure.

Im suprised but I think I might be warming up to the idea. To me it sounds like Bill is saying that membership base can and WILL be consulted. If they can stump up the support from 150+ sponsors and the club structure remains the same Im in support.

What I have noticed as well over the past few years, mainstream football is calling us HELLAS again... or is that just my imagination?

MAINLY CLASSIC, SOMETIMES PLASTIC , SOUTH MELBOURNE HELLAS FOR LIFE.

We will likely play the winner of tonight's Brunswick Juventus/Preston match next Wednesday night more likely. Given the real possibility of reaching the Australia Cup Grand Final, we may need to rest some players against Melbourne City Youth this Saturday afternoon to ensure they are fresh for the quarter final. I would look at resting at a minimum of 3-4 players this Saturday. Players such as Retre, Uchida, and Yoo should all start from the bench and only come on if required. For those starting, I would start to bring off some of the starting XI after 70 minute mark. If Lopez and Lampard are ready to start, I would start them both.

Too much at stake given there is a home semi final on offer if we win next week's quarter final. A home semi final will bring a big crowd, and the accompanying financial windfall. The Club could generate over $100,000 profit on that night.

One step at a time but this IS a great chance to make final.. When would that be?

We dont need to prove anything so many years have past and we still sit ontop of the pyramid as the most successful in the country!

We take out the minor trophies of the AL and the AU Cup and we will literally have won it all...

Competition with them was shown previous round when their best got run ragged the whole field over!

We can pay them in souvlakia?? How many does it come out to, anyone kmow?? They have no odea given the shit they pay for at those venues we do 'gourmet' souv $30 hahaha

And why would one pay?? They look more like folding than we did post NSL...its a money grab for survival.. they can keep it from the FA handouts we pay token $1.
Maybe so, but it would definitely be more entertaining seeing south in the a league compared to western united. Hoping it happens just to shake things up abit.

Given we will most likely have a Australia Cup quarter final mid next week, I would put out the following Starting XI against Melbourne City Youth:

Lopez (if fit and medically cleared to get match fitness) otherwise Charlston
Lampard (if fit and medically cleared to get match fitness)
Jankovic
Ramazani
Nkwomo
Giannakopoulos
Skapoulas
Pasquali
Lackay
Mesorouni
Swibel

Bench - Painter-Andrews, Uchida, Yoo, Juach, Saristavros, Cocks, Charlston (Van Riet if Charlston starts).

Retre is left out completely as we need 90 minutes out of him against Preston.

The problem we have Menelaou, Mikkola and Eliopoulos injured and we released Leech. They would have been handy in this match.

Players like Pasquali and Giannakopoulos would have ideally been started from the bench, but we do not have the depth on the bench with resting too many players.

Its still a miracle the amount of football Marko, Tommy and Seb have played this year...
