Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

Just looking into the future and at the Preston game it did hear someone mention that if we play Preston in Cup and Aus Champ that Bonada won't play. Now I'm not sure if its true and I can't see why he shouldn't play considering he did last game.
Bonada has been playing in the cup, no reason why he wouldn't play unless the FA have an 'administrative error' like they did with Luca Tevere which stopped him from playing against Newcastle lol

Like I said not sure if true. Apparently his loan deal has that clause in it but again I can't be sure.

I'm sure Preston will want a spectacle at BT Connor should they beat Brunswick Juventus...They should give South an allocation behind the goals as they usually do.

South and Preston have been given a draw for the ages...should they progress there's a massive Semi Final for either club which should give their respective stadiums capacity...

Preston could argue that they can fill the venue themselves and not allocate tickets to South perhaps.

Also up to now the entire wing behind the benches has been a cut off no go zone in our matches, would that apply again?

I reckon it would get 10-12k if taken to AAMI Park (it wont)

AAMI park is a venue I would consider. Easier to manage both sets of fans. Security plan would already be in place when high risk A Liga game are played. But no chance Preston would give up the home game..

Preston wouldn't not allow South fans in; big chance to showcase again that we can play games without hatred and stupid political games - it's in Preston's best interest to allow South fans in. Also the section behind the coaches box was closed off against Newcastle too, assuming Paramount+ will get the rights for this game, it makes sense for their crew not be interfered with. Would love to see a 10k crowd at this game so lets focus on beating our R16 teams, Juve won't be easy for us...

Thats was an outstanding performance by South. Goal by Juach amazing but Yoo, Uchida, Ramazani just stepped up and produced an amazing come back
Sloppy goal to give away but dominated most of the game after that, impressive performance and with a very thin bench.
Rama made ONE mistake the whole game and we paid for it, otherwise clinical performance, H more than redeemed himself with that drive to create Yuki's goal... what can I say? Yoo and Uchida have this understanding already. Cant wait till they've had 1/2 a season under their belts together. Magic.

Hope the build a shed or some Bunnings tents or something by then, last time out we got soaked.

Let's not jump ahead of ourselves ... having said that ... I will be overseas by the time that potential match is played.

But anyway ..... I want to play Juventus. I want revenge for them both beating us in the 1985 Major Semi Final with a Fab Incantalup0 goal, AND knocking us out of the 1986 finals in the last round at Middle park with an Andrew Zinni hatrick!

What a f@#king win !!!

That was one of South's best performances all season. You could see the South players were nervous early on and the mistake that Ramazani made was probably due to that. That was the only fault he made all night and it had to cost us an early goal.

Yoo and Uchida terrorised the Adelaide team all night. They are linking up so well and you can see they enjoy playing with each other. Great energy. They just kept running at the Adelaide defence nonstop all night. The South midfield was massive last night. Retre and Pasquali just bossed the midfield and provided great defensive cover but also were able to feed Uchida, Yoo, and Cocks to get the ball moving forward.

Ramazani bossed the defence and Jankovic is a better player next to him. JPA who has made a few errors of late had a strong performance. The South defence pretty much kept Adelaide United to a few long speculative shots from outside the box. As for Bul Juach, what can you say. His long range shot was nothing but world class giving the goalkeeper no chance. If we had conceded a second goal it would have been all over. But that great goal by Juach lifted the team and got us back into the match. You can see that he has so much quality but just needs more matches to get his groove and rhythm back.

The last 10 minutes of the match felt like an eternity. We were resolute and kept fighting until the end.

I must say the crowd was good last night. Just shows you we are a club made for the big stage. The queues in the social club for food and drinks were long all night. I saw on the socials that they had 400kgs of gyro and they probably sold pretty much all of it.

Great scenes at the final whistle. Makes you proud to be a Hellatzi.

kind of got it right lol, AU came out like a house on fire and scored early. ( If they scored a second, that would've been good night) they didnt and then souths came back at them

I know a lot of AU fans are quite upset with the result, but this is the problem when assuming a professional side should always beat a semi pro side. On paper that is true, but matches arent won on paper as we all know.

no issues with the result from my POV.

the match gave adelaide more questions than answers and thats a concern with the asian match fast approaching
I still think Adelaide is a very good team. The Adelaide players never looked panicked with the ball. Quick ball movement and some really quality on the park.

Hope you enjoyed a souvlaki and the South hospitality at Lakeside.

I hope both supporters can watch the match at BT Connor Reserve if we both qualify. Would make for a cracking atmosphere. Also important to show that matches between our clubs can accommodate both sets of supporters. We've hardly had any issues over the last 3 years we have travelled away.

All you need to do is to allow the South supporters to exit first and hold back the home fans for 10-15 minutes for a smooth exit for all.

Preston could do that. They might say its just easier if they just play it in front of their own supporters. I hope not. I hope its open to both Preston and South supporters.

result was fair - neither side can have any complaints with that scoreline, the better side won on the night.

AU fielded an incredibly strong lineup and took it seriously and still lost. Even the most one-eyed AU fan shouldn't be too upset with that result (but judging by the outcry on socials, it appears majority of AU fans thought they had the match won just on the team sheet lol)

They lost the midfield battle, got attacked down the left constantly (which is how a league teams hurt adelaide, because the LB always bombs forward) and they couldnt break souths down (even with the wonderful creativity of goodwin and muniz on the pitch)

no complaints like i said

Actually it probably will be a gimme. All of Juves new signings are cup tied, whilst none of Prestons are.

Granted they did beat Oakleigh before the transfer window.

Its funny that if results go as expected the no night game rule will go out the window for the quarter final. I suspect Preston wont give any tickets to us.
This is my info also..it will be home support only i am told.

Is he the one that confirmed that.. if he is then we can guarantee its a lie like last time!

The biggest difference in quality between the teams was the crossing, a few of the balls Adelaide whipped in from out wide was like watching Boutsianis back in the day, whilst ours were dreadful, which shows what an effort it was to not give Adelaide any corners at all. We would be a pretty complete team if we cleaned up that part of our game.
