Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

My fear is something happens on Sunday against Dandenong Thunder. For instance, a crucial easy miss to score the winner, a costly turnover that leads to a winner for Thunder, or at worse, an angry exchange with the supporters.

Things could really boil over.
I dont think any Thunder supporters will come, their home games have been abysmal this season... As for us arguing, I doubt it.. If this comes down to a one goal decider against a totally brand new squad then the whole game would have been garbage anyway and we would all be too numb from boredom to give a shit...

I agree re O'Sullivan. Has always done really well when called upon. South have handled these young players terribly. Telling them they are going to be loaned out, then that they are required and now just confusion hence why a lot of them are leaving not on loan but on a permanent basis.
Can't argue with any of that... Our footballing department are lost at the moment...

Dovison another who has proven what he can do for the club scoring some crucial goals yet put out to the wilderness (not sure if loan or permanent). A lot of other u23 also seem to have left as I haven't seen killick skapoulas papadimitriou or the 2 agelatos brothers in the u23 squad for weeks now.
staggering.

The majority of them should be on loan for a season for solid game time especially if they are ab9ve u23 playing levels, it will further show let us see who can rise to the top imo, this experiment of them playing NPL as a team was a massive failure, showing they werent ready just yet, atleast not collectively. We all know which shouldve been kept to compliment the senior squad, problem is some of them dont seem to have been and thats the worry!
I agree to some extent however fact is if you don't have players coming in you don't send players out you still need a squad.. we saw that most of he u23s were not up to it and the ones that were capable have either left or disappeared. A squad should be 1 in 1 out. Especially if we're playing ffa cup and need to rest players before/ after.

I can never understand why we make these statements without making the necessary investment in the playing squad.

We just open ourselves up to so much ridicule when those statements are made and are not backed up with actions.
Yeah but ridicule from whom? Supporters of peasant clubs with an axe to grind? Who cares?

As is, the squad couldnt win the ofc, it is by no means winning the AU Cup! Id have been happy with 6 out 3 quality starters in! Thats what was called for from the start..

We dont even havr a clue (until friday perhaps not even then) who is still here, there or anywhere!
