Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

I'l take any type of win. A defeat is unnaceptable and will confirm nothing has been settled within the club over the week off. Lets not kid ourselves 2 months ago we would be thumping Altona and Bentleigh. Alarm bells big time if we fall tonight, and im even considering a draw to be as bad as a loss, no excuses.

We've kept them in the game here. Next goal will be crucial, should be 5-1 if Lackay could finish.
Not gonna convince me this bloke is a 'talent' ...

Did we finally sacrifice Swibbel so MessiRooney can play? Bonada proved a point tonight, ran and pressed like a madman!

That Massarouni dive turnover edge of the box that almost led to second goal gave me flashback of Altona first goal... week off didnt do all that much for us it seems...

If Bentleigh converted off that Messourouni turnover and made it 3-2 i could have seen us capitulate to a loss, those are the fine margins.

Only South can win 5-1 and have serious questions posed. The presidents son gets 80 minutes, Lackay who will never ever score a goal in this competition gets most of the game. Wtf has Mikkola done wrong to lose his spot to duds? Bit of anger in that penalty.

I really hope we dont lose Bonada, he was excellent.

No added time when its a thrashing is a pet peeve of mine. That was a genuine 5-6 minutes of time that should have been added on.

100%

big questions thats for sure... it somewhat worked today but that starting lineup wouldnt get a look in against a better side one would hope!
That it was Bonada there and not swibbel with the nepobaby was a big positive..lets hope this is part of the compromise and he only plays these theoretically easier games...

IVe said all i have to say abouy Lackay, nothing more to qdd that we dont all see!

Best on ground for me!

Yep... dont think 5 or 6 but atleast 2 for good measure just for the delay of penalty..

Lackay was fine tonight
Was better than Pasquali
Pasquali is allowed a bad game (i dont think it was) especially in a midfield lacking the support of a proper defensive midfielder/holder (Giannakop) and a proper attacking winger on the right (mikkola)... both he and Yuki were lost in this setup imo.

Lackay is at least a teenager, the problem is we cant be developing him whilst trying to win games, loan him out.

Messourouni is outright starting with 10 men.

The shift of Gianokopoulos to the back disjoints us but here we are cos Inglese is bang average. We won tonight simply because we have better players. Structurally the game did not look good. Bentleigh had heaps of space with the ball but were too shit to capitalise. We also thankfully had Bonada who ran his ass off. Could you imagine the front 3 being Messourouni, Lackay and Swibel?

We are barely a fraction of the dominant team we were in the Aus championship.

Big business needed when the window opens on Monday.

No it wasnt Pasqualis best game but he was in the thick of it when we went nuts in the first 10-15 mins. If he puts together a good 10-15 good things will happen in those 10-15.

Hopefully Uchida coming out was just a precaution

I'm not a massive fan of Mesa or Lackay but both were fine tonight
Didnt like the midfield set up as @southmelb said we allowed them too much space - Cocks is a good winger but loses his man often in transition

Every time Messourouni loses the ball you never see a 2nd effort to either win the ball back or just make a smart foul. The problem is he loses it in central positions which leaves us vulnerable to getting stung the other way. He often refuses to play the simple ball and will try a low percentage shot. I've lost count of the amount of times he loses it on the edge of the box. Do that against a good team and you wont get far.
