Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

And how will we do that unless we granted (insert laughs here) a green light to enter the AL? And as we know pigs will fly before that happens.... is that not the actual reason why we are here at ofc? .. all focus should be on this and rightly so, just need a squad yhat can do both doesnt need much more than depth we have now just better recruitment choices imo
Australian Championship - winner
Australia Cup - Best result is a couple of semis, win this year and then we are top of Australia what else is above these two comps?

If you are hanging on to some sort of dream that we win the OFC a couple of seasons running and then they are forced to let us enter the club world cup, I reckon you are dreaming.

The Kiwis hate us more than the franchises do here in Australia, if they didn't need us to lend some sort of legitimacy in the early stages of this two-bob "league" then we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

Ideally yes but you still havnt won an AL in their eyes! You win it you play AFC2 okin that case cool we only team to play in 2 international comps at same time! Lol

I know we wont get that spot but what will everyone say if by some fluke we do...then its game on!

I hate them though and their double standards as much as i hate ones here! Same same to me as long as we beat them!

Proof is there they need us fpr the legitimacy and we also need thwir comps bc we are denied other pathways.. otherwise lets just be choakleigh and focus on NPL and be done with it as our benchmark...

1) This team will not win the ofc with Swibel up front, he is hopeless.

2) A big fuck you to the coaching staff who decided to take off all those players in the 60th minute and essentially throw the game.

3) Congrats to City, way too quick and outplayed us, we would have grinded out some sort of a result of Sinisa didnt chuck it in but obviously not caring if we lose at lakeside is kinda our thing now.

4) see everyone in June.

Another thing that was frustrating me on the drive home, if the plan was to pull a whole bunch of stars on 60 minutes, why was our bench so pathetically weak? Where was Cocks? Leech? Dovison?

We play Auckland next Wednesday, was an extra 30 minutes going to kill our players? Im not saying we would have won but it would have been nice to see if our guys could turn the tide in the game without sabotaging ourselves.

This season feels far too comprimised. Our membership is the worst in Victoria when it comes to bang for buck, you could see the crowd getting agitated at yet another game being sacrificed.

I fear the clubs reputation will be in tatters with what awaits us the next 3 weeks. Especially next Friday.

Unless Bonada is played up front and Uchida is shifted out wide we cant win it.
That would be my fix also... uchi seems lost currently and bonada wasted each time we persist with swibbel... i get that he perhaps has a specific role, but its a role that only works if the striker is strog with his back to goal and can lay off play properly to wide players when he draws in defenders.. swibbel cant even do that effectively imo... he then dredges back too far and clutters the midfield while leaving the front line without a focal point.... doubt rhe city central defenders had such an easy night out as this one!

Was the wrong type of striker for us and its showing/will show in all the crucial games.

lack of utilising an actual player like Cox raised concerns for me also... leech wouldve also offered more i believe.... the changes were too drastic for a gane in the balance that only needed one actual proper opportunity and a point wouldve been saved.

I cant say i didnt have a fear about injury concerns leading into this...

When something is repeated its almost bang on disrespectful to us.. id prefer they just said we will be lean here bc we want the ofc and thats it wouldnt like it but atleast it would be clarity.. not now, but at the start of the season.

I will attend friday but im worried this will surely be a lesson that i will learn the hard way!

I suspect things will become toxic if we lose to Auckland on Wednesday.

A domestic cup has already been sacrificed, we've seen another league fixture sacrificed when in the balance. If its all about the ofc and we shit the bed next week even in that its going to start raising a lot of questions.

I had accepted the 3 npl losses coming but now they have to manufacture a way to get the George Cross game to make up for this debacle.
