Relieved? Cmon that was pretty much 90 mins of domination... Clarke saved 3 -4 clear goals and the two Dandy Scored where 1) Janko not tracking his man in the box and 2) a total switch off ball watching in the final 30 seconds of a match.

5 wins from 7 rounds already (we only got 7 Ws all season in the league last year) .... what else do you want on a Tuesday night from the boys?
It was perhaps our best performance since forever ..... excluding the defeat of Heidelberg in last year's AFC Semi. And I do not count that, as we had signed on some quality short term players.

Our current first team is quality. We have a real weapon in Cocks off the bench. Just got to hope we get no injuries, and that the eventual fatigue in April comes after we have banked points in both NPL and OFC PL.

Very much relieved, to completely dominate and be 1-1 after the 70th minute is like wtf. Glad we eventually got the goals we deserved. Our pressing was on point and the midfield dominated.

Mikkola is getting closer and closer back to his 2022 form before the idiot ruined him. Agree on Cocks being a weapon off the bench as he can easily get around tired defenders.

Our first team is clearly top 2 standard. Not sure how we organise this month but if we split the Preston/oakleigh games like we did the dandy double we will still be in a strong position.

I'd say overall we are 6-8 points ahead of where we should be. Snatching those Altona and Gully games were huge.

Felt like a good crowd for a Tuesday night but looks horrible on a rewatch from youtube lol.

The souvs, for the first time, were amazing though..... If this mob sticks around all season we will be very happy.

They were on their way to being sold out as I left the ground. People were still lining up. I hope they did well.

I really enjoyed mine ... but as my comrades said, they were not that big. A serve of chips between us did the trick though

That was a match that was MUST win and thankfully we DID!

The players looked a bit rusty in the first 10-15 minutes, but that could be down to their 10 day break. We totally dominated them from start to finish. Swibel struggled early on and that final ball forward at times was lacking. I'm surprised that we were not leading by a couple of goals by halftime. I think it was 12 shots to 2 at halftime, and by the end of the 90 minutes, South had 25 shots on against 7 from Dandenong City. The opposition was struggling at times to keep up with the relentless South pressure.

There was a point in the match where I thought we would not score and Dandenong City would go up and sneak a goal and then pinch a result. In the end, Dandenong City crumbled and conceded 3 goals in a space of 8 minutes that ended the contest.

Cocks coming on for the last 30 minutes or so was a breath of fresh air and really terrorised the Dandenong defence. A handy weapon for Sinisa to bring on when the team needs to score and lock in a win. Incidentally, we looked strong in the midfield with both Pasquali and Giannakopoulos playing in their natural positions. Our Starting XI is strong.

I heard from others that the souvlakis were good. Lets see more of that please !

I'm not sure why it has taken us so long to figure out that a souvlaki and chips is a good feed at a soccer match ! All suburban clubs can do it - not sure why it took us so long to figure it out.

You're right - Mikkola is starting to rediscover his old form and that is having a big impact up front. You need players to run at defenders to put defences under pressure and create opportunities.

I never would have thought we would be sitting top of the ladder after Round 7 given all the football we have played across the Pacific. All teams are dropping points, which helps us.

From the pairing of Xavi and Iniesta, to Karagounis and Katsouranis, the midfield is the key.

And in Pasquali and Giannakopoulos, we have an NPL equivalent.

We are looking good at the top of the standings. More importantly, we are 2 points ahead of Heidelberg, 4 points ahead of Oakleigh, 5 points ahead of Avondale and 8 points ahead of Preston. They will likely be there at the end of the season. I'm expecting Hume and Bentleigh to fall away as the season progresses.

Our fixtures for the month of April

View attachment 6082

That is 8 matches in 20 days. The more scarier part is that there are 6 matches within 10 days!
Was speaking to a few of the players yesterday and Dockerty cup game will basically be U23s... Last nights squad is pretty much ALL staying for the Preston game with a few flying out the following Monday for the Bula and PNG matches... Oakleigh is really the only match we are going to be fielding a "shaky" starting XI.... but its at home and we ALL need to get behind the boys that day ... If we can get 4 points out of the next two NPL matches Ill be very very happy.

It makes sense to mostly play the Under23s in the Dockerty Cup match. You may want 2-3 senior players to just provide some leadership and structure to the young players.

Looks like we are prioritising the Preston NPL match and the Bula, PNG Hekari and Tahiti United OFC matches. That means we would hope for a draw against Auckland and Oakleigh. The team should be back in time for the St Albans NPL match where some of the first XI players would feature.

I think thats the plan, and a fairly decent one I think.

Perhaps Sinisa plays the following players tomorrow:

Charlston
Inglese
Coveny
O’Sullivan
Gorr-Burchmore
Menelaou
Leech
Angelatos
Skapoulas
Saristavros
Dovison

Have on the bench Singh, Papadimitriou, Killick, Shalamanov-Trenkov, Angelatos.
