Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

Leech and Pope played against Altona and Leech was almost best on ground. What we saw on Saturday was overkill, ok we got Mikkola and Lampard back but 2 left side players arent going to change shit for you when you have nothing in the middle.
I reckon Siki learned his lesson with that approach. Leech and Menelaou need to play in NPL competition to ensure a competitive performance.

Not the ones around me... The kids were wearing Victory hats and a couple of people directly asked why they dont see me at AAMI if I love soccer so much.
We all knew this was the end goal though for them!
@Monoethnic Social Club Εγώ πάλι δεν κάνω παρέα με ανώμαλους τύπου Franchise.. Mine are all local club affiliated (brunswick city/northcote etc) bc of kids so cant question the upbringing there too much! 🤣
Some people cannot understand the basic concept of supporting your own team.
I blame the parenting! Hahaha

They weren't part of my παρεα either just new people in the seats around us. For them Soccer is/was a family entertainment like going to the cinemas or eating gelato down by the beach.... THATS who the balcony bozos want to replace us with.

Our fixtures for the month of April (Flashscore has not included our Round 4 Dockerty Cup away match to Hampton East Brighton on the 4th April).

I'm trying to find out about SM's progress in the OFC Pro League?

Am I looking in the right place?

I was hoping it would be on Paramount, but it isn't. Hope SM are going well in the OFC.

We need to win 2 of the 4 games.

2 of them are against the bottom 2.

We will get pumped by Auckland but i expect our 2nd stringers to be competitive in all the other matches. Dont think the conditions in Fiji are as harsh as PNG and SI

We have little to no chance in claiming top spot in the last regular hub, so no point in sending a strong squad for that particular fixture. A draw against Auckland would be a great result in that instance. Apart from Auckland, we face Bula FC, PNG Hekari and Tahiti United.

I'm guessing the following players will definitely travel to Fiji:
Charlston
Shalamanov-Trenkov
Inglese
Coveny
Lackay
Leech
Menelaou
Singh
Dovison
Papadimitriou
Pope
Mesorouni
Gorr-Burchmore

I suspect the club will play a full strength team against Preston, and play a weakened side against Auckland. I would not be surprised if 3 first team senior players fly out for the remaining 3 matches to secure second spot in the OFC Pro League. There is enough talent to lock in second spot with the addition of 3 senior first team players. Perhaps Mikkola and Cocks could travel to Fiji to assist with the OFC Pro League commitments. I don't think the likes of O'Sullivan, Saristavros, Angelatos brothers, Skapoulas and Killick can compete in the OFC Pro League given they are not listed in the 23 man squad.

That would mean we are exposed in the Oakleigh match if 3 senior players fly out to Fiji. Against Oakleigh, you need a minimum of the following:
Lopez
Lampard
Eliopoulos
Jankovic
Pasquali
Giannakopoulos
Bonada
Uchida
Swibel

It means you'd have to call upon Skapoulas, O'Sullivan, Saristavros, and Angelatos to make up the numbers.

Its still high humidity in Fiji but by the time Auckland trip rolls around the weather should suit us much more...

Just had a quick look at the weather, and it will likely be high 20s/low 30s with humidity ranging between 60-80%. Looks like the weather will be slightly better in Fiji.

On a side note, I heard the humidity in the Solomon Islands was worse that than experienced in Papua New Guinea. It was horrendous. Good thing with the Challenger Group finals plus semis will be in Auckland which will suit us much better.

Don't quite understand why the event is being held in April and at that location? Not sure about that decision.
Does it still have the dry ice and the turntable they balcony bros can drive their Maseratis and Ferraris on and spin around on the dance floor? hahahahahaha

I think Pasquali will definitely be staying in Melbourne for the Oakleigh game as he'll have to serve a suspension for his red card in the match against Solomon Kings last circuit and depending on how results pan out may not need to fly out to Fiji anyway.

Thats ALOT of football again this month, I dont know how we do it... If we survive this month and next and somehow pull this off it will truly be impressive.

That is 8 matches in 30 days !

Dockerty Cup - Just play our Under 23s in the Dockerty Cup match against Hampton East Brighton.

NPL Victoria - Full first team senior players should be played against Preston and St Albans. About 8 first team players against Oakleigh.

OFC Pro League - Non-first team players against Auckland, with 3 first team players to complement the non-first team squad players against Bula, PNG Hekari and Tahiti United.
