Swibel and Max were awful tonight IMO
I cant fault max other than perhaps not being able to keep pace with what was a very conditioned quick running side.. swibel and lack of focal point for sure is our biggest concern ... bonada did fck all for me also and that Lackey after the dirbbling debacle of the weekend we saw yesterday that he also cant pass accurately at 3 mtrs to save his life!

Do we perhaps have to move Bonada up front? He isnt working out wide and even worse on the right wide where his right foot is bad and he often just runs the ball out of play.

Cocks is the only one thats made a difference in attack but the other signings in the attacking third suck.

In any case its going to be hard to judge the team this year cos they're going to be spent for most it.

We really need to be careful about how we navigate the npl. Some of the teams that were touted as relegation candidates have started well, it wont take much for us to get dragged down into a mess.

Also we must sacrifice the dockerty cup this year. We simply cant do more games, first round exit a must.

Agree, this might well be the best solution for all atm

Progressing nicely! 1 out of 4 signings doesnt scream successful transfer window thats for sure!

Im really struggling to see how they sat down and figured this squad was enough for everything? I really am!

A real concern given way results have gone so far and really cant afford to slip from now!

This for sure is my logical want also...

Only 12 points in ofc melb hub can justify what happened last night and what will likely happen next Saturday. Cos that will mean we shouldnt need much more to secure top 4 in ofc and can send our bums to the overseas hubs. Personally we have overextended ourselves and its simply too many games for a team whose squad is bang average outside our best 16.
Well... whats plan B?

Why not sacrficie the OFC instead? Dockerty cup is a chance to make history in a more than certury old competition and get a threpeat... Is the 450k so important to us, surely we can find another sponsors son who wants to play j teh first time and has a dad with deep pockets?

Agree with Coks and Bonada NOT swithng sides though, Cox maybve able to handle the left but he crosses much better with his right ... and is lovely to watch burn a player too btw ... seems a smart signing.

Id have brought singh on for the disjointed swibnle half time to be honest... just ball hidding whole game.
I dont think he makes himself available to Yuki centrally like Lavale tried to do and Cocks and Bonada are looking to whip in to a tall man outside the 6 yard box ... thats NOT Swibel... Perhaps Singh is the answer... That wasnt the team that looked composed against Avondale... Although to be fair we DID have 3 goal line almost chances sop the scoreline is a little unflattering.

I was impressed with Auckland though, they would be top 4 in VIC NPL I reckon...

I think we have the measure of Auckland, so I'm not fearful of them when we likely face them in either semi final or grand final. But they are well drilled and a good technical team. They would definitely play finals in the NPL Victoria competition.

Prize money for Dockerty Cup - $0
Prize money for OFC - $450,000

The money earned here will bankroll player signings for Australia Cup, Australian Championship, and NPL Victoria competition, as well as pay a few bills.

Yeah mate I get it, the prize money is great, if we win, but I still see this as some foreign tournament, albeit with 3 (and due to rain delayed match, fortuitously a 4th) home matches....

I'ts NOT for Hellas fans its for the players and the board and maybe picking up some recognition from the world ourside of our bubble.... For Melbournians we may as well be Eurosnobs watching some random EPL team play overseas and pretend we belong to it if thats the case..

I love the week in week out battle of the league, the cup and even the Dockerty cup... The Australian Championship was just grouse, especially having an away day to Sydney... more of that please.... but this tournament seems like an unnecessary allocation of resources to me. Great if we win and make money but I dont know if its worth the cost to our season here and the disrespect the week in week out, ride or die fans will feel if we are constantly neglected.... just my 2 cents.

I think its worth trying something different on Tuesday up front. Swibel has played 1.5 matches in 48 hours, so he would require a rest in any case. Against Tahiti United, Singh should be good enough to start upfront.

All 3 teams that were promoted to the NPL have had great starts and so this will add another layer of complexity in navigating the NPL competition until late May.

Its going to be hard to pick a starting 11 for Tuesday's match given we have South Island United on Friday and Altona Magic on Saturday.

Possible starting 11 for the match against Tahiti United could be:

Lopez
Inglese
Coveny
Eliopoulos
O'Sullivan
Menelaou
Leech
Mesorouni
Singh
Bonada
Mikkola

Can someone explain to me if there is an NPL Under 23 competition? And if so, do we have a team in this?

Does this team include any of the squad that is playing in the 2 senior competitions (NPL and OFC Pro League) that are running concurrently?

NPL Victoria clubs enter the Dockerty Cup in early April (weeks commencing 5th-12th April). I believe that there will be no NPL matches that weekend given there will be Dockerty Cup matches, so we can take that fourth round fixture seriously. The problem is Round 5 which clashes with the Leaders Group fixtures after the end of the 5 hubs, and Round 6 again with the OFC finals (semis and grand final). It will come down to whether we draw State League or VPL2 clubs in order to reach the last four of the Dockerty Cup.

Yes - we have both U20 and U23 youth teams. They are eligible to play in the NPL Victoria competition.

All good mate. Opinions are part of football. We are here for Hellas.
