Btw … I just discovered that there are more Jews in Melbourne than Sydney. Yet the historic contrast between the 2 Soccer clubs could not be more stark.

I would assume that Melbourne’s Jews fully immersed themselves in Australian Rules as opposed to the Sydney community not embracing Rugby League, nor even Union

Problem for South playing Oakleigh if it eventuates is that its going to be very close to the Lions semi final match and Sinisa has already shown that he will sacrifice npl football if he has to.

Unfortunately we never see our best team week in week out.

We have the depth to manage it. Cannot see Sinisa resting 5-7 players against Oakleigh in a semi final. Plus it would likely be played 4 days prior to the Australia Cup semi final so players have time to recover. Do not forget that the Lions FC are travelling to Melbourne during their finals campaign as well.

I would sacrifice it too. I think they'll make the Australia cup final, imagine winning it all against one of the two biggest a league teams, show the whole of Australia you're better than the best a league teams. Eyebrows will be raised for sure...

Once you go beyond our best 13 the quality nosedives. No doubt our best team is the best outside the top flight but our depth isnt great imo

Hungarians yes for sure, unsure if they were Jewish. The loweys were somewhat a Hungarian Jews and they were at Hakoah. Although Hakoah were founded before Lowey arrived, 1939

May well be the case. Certainly they’ve never really leaned into the Jewish identity, it’s always been the “Hungarianess” that’s defined them. Hakoah has always been the “Jewish” club
