It would not surprise me if there is a spoken gentleman's agreement that he doesn't play against us. Unfortunately that wont prevent Preston just playing him. It just impact the longer term relationship between the clubs.

We had no issue when Boutsi returned to South from Auckland Kingz and ended up playing vs the Kingz at BJS. By memory there was a clause preventing him from playing against Kingz but Vasilopoulos managed to work around it....
