Id like to hope Menelaou when he has cover in front of him can still perhaps work out as DM... raising his fitness levels is key though like Pasquali. Without the signings playing menealou is a bit of a liability without cover.

Without pasquali perhaps bonada slots back into cm/am and mikkola uchida take the wings? With bonada though i dont think there is as much cover on Menelaou though putting pressure on him... A fit pasquali is more solid cover for menelaou.

how do you see us fitting mikkola & bonada in?
I cant seem to thin of how we play Mikola, Bonada Uchida AND Aguek at the same time???? Personally Aguek is the WRONG player for us ..... Need a big arse George Ott/Harry Sawyer type #9 to help Bonada up top.

Most likely I think we get Uchida at right wing and Bonada at centre forward with Mikkola in attacking midfield, and play Campbell Dovison at left wing, with Aguek either being a second centre forward along with Bonada or straight up not making the starting XI altogether.

As it stands its Uchida, Aguek, Giannokopulos and Pasquali coming in. Reckon thats about it?
Wouldn't surprise me if there were more. I get the impression they are trying to overhaul the entire starting 11. To be honest - the existing squad lacks the quality to make a mark at the Australian Championship. Interesting to see if there are any more signings.

Don't forget we also have Spink who came in midseason who looked handy in the backline.

The bench may look like Menelaou, Nagamatsu, Brennan, Dovison, Leech, Pope, Inglese.

Question is - when is the transfer deadline for signings to be completed in time for the Australian Championship?

You have to have both Aguek and Uchida in the starting 11, they combined for 25 goals this past season, we only scored 29!

A high quality playmaking centre mid is all we need to bring it all together.
Im going on the record to say I don't really want Aguek.... We need someone who can hold up the ball and assist as well as poach goals. Aguek is an Esteban-ball signing if we indeed get him. ... but I guess we have to play with what we can afford ..... not much it seems.

Exactly this!!
Don't shoot me down, and just thinking outside the box, but maybe Sisi is planning on playing Bonada as a deeper playmaker/hook? It's pointless getting him to harass low line CBs against NSW and NNSW clubs that dont seem to play that deep... I reckon, in our group at least, there will be a lot of counter attack football... we are going to be the only side that is going to want to hold onto the ball......

That's a really good point. I'm hoping we've signed that kind of player, otherwise it will be makeshift arrangements.

It really depends on the style of play, if we look at the team in yellow who are the benchmark, the forwards dont really play a "hold up" style, every attacker that gets the ball immediately runs at the opposition defenders. Aguek is quick and is not far off the mould of a Bul Juach.

The issue is going to be in the middle of the park, can we hold onto it without turning it over cheaply and can we launch rapid fire attacks through that area, we've lacked that classy ball playing mid for a very very long time.

I hope you are right.... As for the team in yellow being a benchmark.... I don't want that dirty, time wasting overly physical garbage to creep into our style of play...

That was what im seeing also.. with a clean up crew behind him and.speed on the wings.. if that pans out then perhaps its less relevant who the finisher is bc you become unpredictable upfront! Hence the giannakop/menelaou bonada spine with mikkola and uchida out... in this situation Aguak fits like a glove!

Im with South though an actual playmaker wouldve been a step up not just for now but next year all.comps!

Good that these boys are getting a look in bc they defs an upgrade from existing without a huge compromise!

You need to be able to also intimidate on the park from the CDM and back especially.
Im not a fan.. Defensively our CB pairing (apart from this year) has been both solid AND clean.... I mean Jake got a player of the season last year as a CB and NO yellow cards all year... thats pretty epic... Marko was leading the goalscroing at one stage... THATS the physicality I want, not 1980s British leg-breaking. As for a buffoon goalkeeper like Soza or Clarke.... No thanks, Ill take Javi's humbleness and reflexes every day of the week.
