Anyone watch tonight’s games?

Anyway, this competition is proving to be a standard than I expected.

And it is certainly offering a little different.

Tonight’s match against the Solomon’s Island may prove to be the best match day experience yet.

Two sets of passionate supporters, with both teams proving to be two of the better outfits thus far
Yeah tonight should be good fun... The Solomon Island fans have turned up to each match so far... they make alot of noise....

A huge shoutout of respect to the Solomon Kings fans last night.. Absolutely charming bunch of people. loud, friendly and gracious in defeat.... Im spewing Ive left it too late to arrange to visit your country next week, but maybe next year if you have games there I would like to come...

Hope you make the finals..

Ouch lost to vabuatu

Hard to win from here

I guess the positive is that its good that the competition isnt easy for south as u want it to stretch the club to a higher level

I think if we had our best team playing in every match we could win this thing going undefeated.

When we need to leave 6 quality players in Melbourne so we remain competitive in the npl its going to be difficult. We have some terrible depth players and that was exposed today.

No, we want Auckland to win. The ofc pro league has playoffs to determine the champion and the playoffs will be held in Auckland, so finishing on top does nothing for us. We want to finish 3rd or higher.
Interesting dynamics!

There is no benefit in finishing first. Once the home and away matches are completed, teams are divided into 2 groups. Teams finishing 1-4 move to the Leaders Group, whilst teams finishing 5-8 move to the Challengers Group. After these 3 matches, teams in the Leaders Group 1-3 progress to the semi finals. The team that finishes top of the challenger group plays the 4th placed team in the Leaders Group in a playoff for the fourth semi final spot. The team that finishes top of the Leaders Group then plays the winner of that play off, and teams that finished 2nd/3rd in the Leaders Group will face off in the other semi final.

From a South perspective, it makes sense for us to aim to finish at least 2nd at the end of the regular home and away season, and then focus on winning all 3 Leaders Group matches with a strong squad and reach the semi finals and hopefully the Grand Final. Its a lot easier said than done.
