OFC Professional League 🌏

I think the bottom 3 will be PNG Hekari, Vanuatu United and Tahiti United. But PNG Hekari is the weakest of all the 8 teams.

It’s very difficult for South to finish top of the OFC Pro League ladder given we are juggling 2 competitions. Would be happy with a top 2 finish. We just need to avoid the playoff for the last remaining semi final spot.

I must admit that I enjoyed the New Zealand commentary team as well. I’m hoping they are also covering the PNG circuit series.
They are very quirky but I was getting annoyed when the call every single South player either Jankovic or Mesourouni... (even before Mesourouni got subbed on).... Also when PNG subbed on this tall dark beast of a player and they called him Menelaou (I guess the #14 threw them) I pissed my pants...

I haven't watched any Auckland games but they have been cruising haven't they

mixed feelings about South dropping points

on the one hand its good that the comp stretches them, on the other hand I want to win haha

Meh, was a scrappy game in windy conditions I wouldn't read too much into it.. Their first goal was a foul on the keeper in any other league on the planet and their second was a poor turn over and sloppy defending... Third goals was a screamer though, well took and incredibly well struck. At 3-3 it has been (bias aside naturally) the pick of the OFC games so far.. Southern Island may only be a new formed club/entity but some of their players had real quality.

VAR decisions take ages, the scheduling and broadcast have issues, some of the squads seem to have last hit the gym sometime int he 90s and in game tactics are way way behind even boring old Aus NPL, but I think I am starting to see the purpose of this league's intent...

Some of these OFC players are going to end up in Asian and Australian clubs in the next few years, and their national teams will finally be competitive in WCQ in time for even more expansion in WCs moving forward...

You're right. This will give South an opportunity to scout for players for the second half of the NPL Victoria and Australian Championship competitions.

Agree that PNG Hekari is the weakest of all the sides in the OFC Pro League and most likely headed for the spoon as they're the only team with no points after three matchdays across two circuits and have the worst for and against in the entire comp.

This isn't surprising. Of all the countries represented in the league PNG has by far the lowest ranked men's national team (10 places lower than the second lowest, Vanuatu). The rest are pretty close to each other besides Australia and New Zealand.

The rankings also have New Caledonia as the second best in the OFC. Another reason why they should've got in over Hellas.
