OFC Professional League 🌏

10-man South Melbourne lost 3-2 to Auckland FC reserves and Bula FC ran out 1-0 winners over PNG Hekari to close out the first set of OFC Pro League circuit 5 fixtures.

Bula beat soloman kings 5-1, they're at home and will be perfectly suited to the conditions.

Again this is one of those teams that we would beat by 5 goals in Melbourne but with weird conditions its difficult. Our best team needs to play them.

I actually think Auckland struggled a bit with the weather as well yesterday, Bula wont.

I'm sorry you southern fellas - I find this comp a bit of a joke.
Wow Tahiti Sth Island.
OK the region needs something of a comp but really - I'm sorry being negative.

It is not a joke to the Oceania region.

Australia's participation (via South Melbourne) can be challenged, but I watched today's match and it mattered to the player's and fans involved.

well ofcourse its not to them - about all they got as a major highlight football wise I understand that.

Irrelevant if its a joke.

OFC Pro League - $450,000 winner's prize money
NPL Victoria - $25,000 winner's prize money

You can call it a joke. I call it pay day.

I still maintain that if this thing was entirely played in Melbourne we would beat all these teams by 4-5 goals bar Auckland but i suspect we never factored in the weather conditions overseas and how much better these teams would be playing in climates that suit them.

Having a game rained out in Auckland and in Melbourne has cost us 6 points. Those 6 points would have meant we could unleash our best team on Oakleigh this weekend...but not to be.

I was the same at first mate but it has grown on me... Win lose or draw I am proud of what the club is doing here.

Our own country doesn't treat us with as much respect us these Fijian school children singing songs and chanting for the lads...

Mate I get your point of view but these kids and this region doesnt need Liverpool v PSG it needs pathways for their own...

The clubs are fresh, the concept is new and the pitches and refs are... well... sometimes worse than NPL but they ARE learning....

In a few decades this torunament may even be decent. In the eman time from Hellas perspective we are just proud to represent Australia's efforts in the region. Speaking tot our players after they come back from a trip is awesome, they feel like pro players.... and its showing on the pitch here in the NPL :)

yes granted Mono I understand your fellow supporters feelings.
I'll have to suss out a live game - having checked I see yours is on this arvo 5pm koff prob can't view that but Saturdays game 1pm 18th if I remember be curious to see.
I take it back fellas - a game is a game no matter what/where and that $ sure does come in handy !

After the latest series of matches, Auckland and South Melbourne lock in their participation in the Leaders Group finals series. Auckland will finish in top spot and South Melbourne is all but assured of finishing second. If South Island fails to win its next match, South Melbourne has second spot locked in.

PNG Hekari and Vanuatu United cannot make the Leaders Group and will enter the Challengers Group.

Interesting to see who will finish third and fourth to join the Leaders Group finals series from Bula FC, Solomon Kings, Tahiti United and South Island United.

Might actually try and go to this.

FIFA does get a lot wrong but I think this OFC Pro League is a great idea and should be encouraged .I believe FIFA will fund it for the next three seasons so will it continue after that time as the costs of the travel alone are astronomical .

Whoever is the FIFA President will always promise to fund it as they want the Oceania votes to retain the position at each election. Its peanuts in funding compared to what FIFA generates in annual revenue.
