Hi there, I was wondering if anyone knew of any groups organising NSL/NPL (or even A League) panels/reunions/talks etc in Melbourne at all? I am trying to organise one for an event for work and wanted to see if I could pair with a promoter who understands the ins and outs of the golden era of Football in Australia.

Cheers

Welcome to the forum.

Who/What sort of format did you have in mind? IF its a speaking gig I would suggest many past players have agents that would handle that sprt pof thing, perhaps reach out to them individually?

Some even use Talent agency like below, hope this helps?

Awesome, thanks for responding. Essentially I have an idea to do a series about the NSL where I get players to come to venues outside of the CBD (target demographic older, suburban peeps) and have their reflection on NSL nights, which were meaningful to said community. I was picturing via a Q&A type event, I just wasn't sure if there were people who already organised thigns like that, but if not I'll just go direct to players and organise it myself! Thanks a lot for the advice :)

Great initiative mate... From a South perspective I can tell you that a few of the old players tend to come down to games quite sporadically and some not at all.

Our cup game on Saturday for example had Vaughn Coveney and Paul Trimboli enjoying the sunshine, and watching Horse's son play for our first team.

The Melbourne players scene is pretty tight knit, most know each other and are pretty friendly... its amazing who you bump into at suburban grounds.. maybe try reaching out to a few of the old clubs they may be able to help. Or picking a local favourite club and hanging around the social club after matches and training... never know who is going to be propped up against the bar next to you :)

P.S just a tip, if there is nothing more these ex players and ex club people like than talking about the "glory days" Dont be put off by nationalities and ethnicity, just be friendly and respectful of the history. Have fun.

rigriot, focus on Melb ? got no worries of that but I see you have grabbed a Spiritfc crest of support.
You based in Melb but originally from Syd ? northside.

hehe you keep thinking that ;) - can't wait till we have more games against each other like the ol days - bring on the state/city rivalries.

Oh Clubs and supporters don't have city rivalries/regions/be it states etc - oh tell that to all the euro Club supporters also ffs back at you :)
with all due respect fo stupid flippant comment.
