NPL attendance and viewers

It’s not the only factor but wanderers have struggled to make finals for a decade and always lose at home. it’s gonna have an effect on attendance. They still have a lot of potential to be the 3rd biggest club in the a league after Sydney fc and victory imo

funny everyone measures us cause of 3 home games in the championship, however in the last decade we have been steady, with the odd spike up and down. but now we are on the up and it's continuing to grow, 4k two weeks ago, 800+ in a midweek cup game, 2k on sunday.

Wanderers have been on a steady decline for a while now, so its not just the wooden spoon tag you make it out to be.

and on another side note and this is no dig at the WSW. I live in southwest Sydney, the "heart land" of WSW if you wanna call it that. People are just not interested in the WSW anymore, they feel bored of the A-League, they stopped attending.

Whereas i have seen a spike in NPL football, im not talking thousands, only hundreds, but it's visible.

What’s the solution..obviously merge old soccer and new football so everyone who cares about Australian soccer is invested in the national comp. Everyone on the same team like it once was. Doesn’t seem to be sustainable the way things are going

Got nothing against any of that. Also hope NPL and Australian Championship crowds grow. I’m an Aus football fan. Understand the hate for the A-League and that we are all not supposed to support it, but Aus football needs a successful top flight league. Unfortunately NPL ain’t that.

It wasn’t 900 fwiw, as someone who’s watched games there enough I’m willing to back up beretta on this and say at the very least there was easily over 1,000 there, probably closer to 1.5. Maybe some kind of quirk with how the attendance was counted as he says

we only started to do that crowd counting clicker system this year.

last year it was basically off online sales and not taking into consideration gate takings and when under 16s is free.

Will keep saying it, the Australia cup is the best thing we have in oz soccer. And probably the most sustainable model too. The federation should really be going all in on trying to push it and build up the cup as the flagship comp/pinnacle/jewel in the crown of club soccer in this country. Such a unique thing in Australian sport too, the diversity of clubs on display and format should be a selling point/point of difference in the Australian sports landscape. And it’s a way of getting the sports massive participation base more involved in the game. I think it would also help and you’d get more interesting fixtures if aus championship clubs entered at the national rounds alongside the a league clubs if and when it becomes a home and away comp

It IS for the 99% of football clubs in Australia that are NOT able to break through to a division higher than their state NPLs.

Lets hope the Australian Championship becomes that top tier.
