NPL 2026

Going into 2026, I've made a top 25 list of NPL performance over the last four seasons. I have data going back further but COVID ruined 2020 and 2021 so that's my cut off. Based on final ladder position, with recent performances worth more, and a multiplier based on federation strength. It's all a bit of meaningless fun. Any thoughts or questions, yell out.

hmm... not sure ACT should be that high, surely? (even if the highest ACT team is the lowest of every states highest on this system)

Yeah it's a tricky balance. I was trying to respect their solid ladder positions, not so much a table of who would beat who. But I do need to keep tuning it.

Based of the last four years, where would you slot in the top ACT and Tassie teams?

Let's use South Hobart as an example. If they have an average position of 2nd, where would that rank in comparison to a Vic team's average position? 4th, 5th, 6th etc.? I need a hive mind for this hahaha.

Based on silverware and cups or just the league?

It's a tough one - although both were knocked out in the Australia Cup first round proper this year

I can see a few npl clubs almost sending themselves broke trying to win the minor premiership so they can be part of this next year.

Here in Victoria i can only imagine what Oakleigh will spend over the summer.
Meanwhile South are going to play an U20s squad so we can focus on the illustrious PNG and Vanuatu competition.....

The club has already said that it will have a squad of about 30 players in 2026. Usually teams have a squad of 20 players in a regular NPL season. I can see some players participating in both competitions (if allowable).

Ideally, the club would hold its annual AGM for them to outline how they plan to make this work.

AGM in Feb apparently as the new suits don't want to shorten their festive travels.

Hey NSW guys, could you settle a debate for me... Apart from Sydney Olympic, which would you say is the next big "Greek" club in NSW?

Is there even such a thing?
