NPL 2026

South 1 Heidelberg 2

South rested 7 first team players and finished the last 30 minutes with its U20s/23s players pretty much. Heidelberg with 2 goals from long range to win it.

Heidelberg fans thought they had won the league. Hellas fans were more focused on Wednesday’s Australia Cup quarterfinal.
 
From what little I’ve seen it seemed like not a bad crowd given the relative lack of important placed on the fixture on this occasion.

By all accounts a relatively pleasant day by the standards of Melbourne winter.

Melbourne knights v langwarrin also looked pretty good

It really should be a lot bigger but with South this season you rock up to a home game sensing we are gonna play a 2nd string team.

We will have more fans at the ground on Wednesday night. We also need a draw next week to ensure we play Preston at home in the finals and not away.
 
Potentially not mine to share and credit to the individual that posted this, one of a few similar posts I’ve seen online today..but at the very least have seen some sort of reaction to the news of Olympics official relegation on social media. Hopefully this provides the club the same sort of kick up the ass it did for other traditional clubs who have gone through similar and comeback stronger. Plenty of work to do though

not NPL but saw a coach try to go a 14 yo female ref today. the club was from broady or dallas in vic. Disgusting. Not npl but whatever

Fuck the homeless gypsies. Unbelievable that since 1957 they don't even have a fucking clubhouse. My dad used to say in translated Greek "they all wanted to be the boss, they all couldn't agree on anything if they were not at the top of the billing, they let sand slide through their fingers, so now they have nothing".

It’s not an exact one to one, there are some differences, and it’s taken longer for reality to set in for them, but there are a lot of parallels between this at Olympic with the Greek community in Sydney and the Brunswick juventus with the Italian community in Melbourne.

Clubs with large diasporas to tap into, enormous potential and history but never built anything of substance/any assets when the times were good and had nothing but wealthy benefactors and infighting power hungry board members as well as their loyalest supporters and clubmen to fall back on when times were tough. Always historically playing out of large rented out venues rather than a home of their own.

Almost cost juve their existence and some would argue it did. Hopefully it works out better for Olympic.

Like I said earlier, support another local Greek club that cares about its supporters. When they are actively suppressing criticism then that should speak for itself 😑😑

I'm curious thats all.
I think most of us don't really know any of our legit figures unless you have a very good contact.
I've heard here and there Operational costs are around $1.25M for eg.
