NPL 2026

Curious question: Why are Marconi locked to third?

My maths shows that if:
- SU win this week, and then lose next week
- Marconi beat Olympic this week, and then also win next week
- APIA lose both matches (which the first is that SU win mentioned earlier)
then the table will be APIA 64, Marconi 64, SU 63
Correct top 3 can all still mathematically win, however unlikely. Marconi can certainly still finish second and get a week off in the finals though

ah yeah. I think I was just assuming that Marconi couldn't drop anymore places rather than going anywhere up considering their recent form. My bad.

All good - yeah I think it's highly unlikely too, but yes - they can't drop any places, so is almost a free hit for them for the next two matches - though same goes really for APIA and SU. SU are in the more precarious position I think, as they can hypothetically still drop to third

Question off the back of this I want to confirm: Do any NPL pyramid outside of Canberra require a club to field all the way down to U13 to be in the senior competitions?

I may be missing something simple here but how can a university football team be expected to have an U13 squad?

NicCarBel - Yes, it was a point of the NSW re-structure in 2019/20, no youf = you got booted.

Monoethnic - We have UNSW & Syd Uni in our system, you don't have to be a student to play for them

Yeah mate I assumed you dont have to be a student, but (and I dont know the answer) do the Uni clubs HAVE junior setups? I dont think they do here?

So, on that note, how is UNSW allowed into NPL? Capital Football seem to have made it a point of taking this explicitly to the letter. Eg, ANU explored partnering with one of the couple College/High School clubs in the youth system, but were told they could not:

Because they divested entirely, there's nothing university related about them apart from playing on their grounds.

Sydney Uni boys yoof don't even play there

I love being the rumour file in this forum and now this is the latest I've heard would love to know if anyone has heard this:

In light of Jonatan Germano's departure...Sinisa Cohadzic will become the new coach of Avondale FC whilst Johnny Anastasiadis will replace him at the end of the season to be South Melbourne's coach.

Can anyone shed some light on this??

Pep Guardiola is going to slot straight into Johnny As spot at Heidelberg and Tony Popovic is being bumped up to the EPL.. its the circle of life.
