NPL 2026

I've been hearing the Aus Championship from one source at SO that it is going home and away in 2027 (in line with NPL season). I haven't heard the rumour from anyone else though.
At our club forum we were told their still not enough teams ready for that jump so i doubt it goes H&A

No chance it would be going to home and away in 2027.

If that was the case, South Melbourne would not bother launching another A League bid. It would focus on building up the new second division competition. You could argue that launching this A League bid may be in response to seeing that Football Australia is not proceeding with implementing a proper home and away national second division competition.

There is no way the APL will allow the national second tier competition moving to a home and away format. Too many vested interested involved.

Unless Ive missed it, FA has gone completely silent on the Championship..... Maybe THATS why we are making noises about Alegaue again..

Well then they’ve gotta offer a viable alternative. The status quo isn’t acceptable. Either open up to merit based applications from clubs outside the a league, or bring the aus championship clubs into the fold via and A1-A2 arrangement etc

it clearly doesn’t look like these calls for change are going to go away by themselves if they haven’t by now after 20 years + …unless they’re holding on to some sort of hope that this last let down will be what breaks traditional clubs spirits

Focus is on Socceroos, Matildas and A League.

The rest of us have to make the most of the crumbs they throw our way believing they are doing us a favour.
Be fair, they rush to collect all our reg fee kick ups and look at all that 'football only' infrastructure they have managed to swallow up, what NO?

They looking to recoup last seaosns losses they palmed to the APL and cover next seasons even bigger losses for that league! Thats forward thinking right there!
