NPL 2026

Not that its saying much but i think our crowds apart from those 2 Monday night games have been bigger this season. But last years Preston game was huge and you wont get that on a Saturday arvo.
Dont know about that, mid season slump had garbage crowds I agree but it feels like a ghos town lately.

I saw on Sunday how many compared to last years matches mate... I agree with you that Saturday 3pm is the absolute shittest time in Melbourne soccer but we have worse problems to worry about... Getting a bumper crowd to Lakeside to watch them beat us at home for the first time in 40 years is NOT even on the first page of our "to do" list...
I dont think we really have a choice

Theres a rule somewhere you need 72 hours between games.

Also with the fixture being so congested and we still have the city game. Honestly dunno when it could be played

Mate we had guys fronting up 48 hours after playing 90 mins... not having a go at Preston, but Football VIC did NOTHING to help us, and a couple of the VIC clubs we reached out to see if we could postpone games told us to fuck off apparently....

Yeah i dunno thats just what ive been told.

I mean its football vic

Wc schedule came out in late december early jan? They still scheduled juniors games against the socceroos

They had a catch up round but are playing dockerty cup semis mid week lol

Hahah does this completely invalidate everything that’s been said by Hellas fans on here over the past few days
Golden Boot winner in 2025 NPL Victoria season. Massive signing.

Welcome to the world of being a Hellas fan. In the morning you're angry and the afternoon you are the happiest bloke in the world.

Nothing against Preston. Football Victoria made the decision.

Its just annoying for us Hellas fans given we were never given any support from Football Victoria when we were getting crunched with OFC Pro League matches.

Buckle up boys, looks like we are playing NPL finals again :)

30+ goals or something ridiculous in all comps... yep... :)
Good player, fast from what I can recall. Amazing what speed does particularly in an attacking context. Something which you can’t coach, both for or against.

As a side note, It’s good to see imo how even after 1 year of the aus championship on top of the aus cup there’s an increased level of awareness of both players and clubs from other states. Obviously long time followers of the game would know the traditional clubs from cities other than their own but a surprising number of younger people involved with the game wouldn’t know them from a bar of soap and are being introduced to them for the first time

I know not many here follow the SA NPL closely , but its still mathematically possibly for para hills (who will finish bottom) to concede over a 100 goals by the end of the season.

They were smacked 9-0 by metrostars last week (who are making a charge towards the title in the second half of the season)
Stopped paying players?
Cut the budget by 90%?
Got the President's dud son playing #9??

What only in the NPL situation are we dealing with here?

I think a club like Sydney Olympic need to have a permanent facility to train and play games. It would be difficult to share the facility with another club.

Their youth and women's teams are playing at the Crest. It isn't the greatest venue but if they put some seats in and fix the change rooms/entrance to the venue, it would be a drastic improvement on what they have at the moment. They could play games inside the stadium and train outside. I just think it would be better for the club to have everyone together at the one venue. At the moment, they train at 2-3 different venues and then play games at the Crest/Belmore Stadium.
I wonder if it would be an option for Olympic to take over and redevelop the crest into a boutique stadium. Hanlin was saying a while back they had their eye on a site out west.

As I say, one step at a time, get it right, rebuild ..then maybe they’ll be able to get back to crowds like this

Yeah 100% like we've both said before the FA cup and now the Championship has opened many peoples eyes to what football really looks like outside of the corporate world.. Some will still never be attracted to it and use "effnikkz" as the excuse but many kids are beginning to copy what their online buddies are doing overseas, they want authentic matchdays.

Bit out of left field this take, but; Gen z get a bad wrap and often times for good reason. But in my experience many of them crave authenticity. Many have been starved of anything real/organic their whole youth. Lots of them envious of the experiences previous generations had when they were their age. That’s why many of them act out the way they do. There’s a marketing opportunity there
