I agree its a nice coloured blue Glenardo - I feel the large white sponsered background ruins it a tad.
May you suffer the loss on Saturday :)
We have retained most of our core + additions ala Spirits Konestabo - Themba back after out all last season is a bonus having lost Championship MVP Dredon.
 
A fairly large chunk of the championship squad has been retained at Marconi despite the alleged reduction in wage bill

Now that all of the squads have been announced, I feel more confident in making Top 6 predictions:
1. APIA
2. Sutherland
3. Marconi
4. Sydney United
5. Blacktown
6. Rockdale

APIA should be a lock for first. Second to fourth are probably interchangeable. Blacktown still looks decent but could be displaced if another team exceeds expectations. Sixth... I have no idea. Like last year, it's probably a matter of whichever team has their shit together the most. Rockdale's defensive core might be strong enough to get them in but it'll be close.

Relegation picks remain the same. SD Raiders go straight back down. Unless Wanderers send down their A-League squad at the end of the season again they end up in the playoff spot. Olympic are going to have a brutal season but just hold on. I think UNSW survive this year and go down the next.

Bankstown getting promoted is probably the best outcome. I am still hoping for it to be close like last year's was.

Sutherland last year had a lot of promise but got wrecked by injuries. I still think even getting into the 6 is a step in the right direction to the board but with how the offseason has panned out they have an opportunity to do a lot more.

I know I will be tuning in to watch from Victoria because of my interest from the Championship, especially after that awesome Quarter Final they played against each other. Hopefully that type of interest translates into a few more people attending than attended the same fixture last season. I imagine increased exposure for NPL clubs resulting from the Championship will certainly increase the state associations appetite towards fully supporting the NST... "A rising tide lifts all boats".

well injuries spoil any clubs season as we know, worse if your bench is lacking and or Jnrs arn't capable enough to cope.
I agree - top 6 is great recovery.
Wiki quotes last trophy was the Waratah Cup in 2012.
I just saw Brendan Gan is in the squad 37yrs, I recall seeing him way way back at SFC early days.

Thats a brilliant post mate... Basically crystallises the potential the Championship can have for ALL levels below it.... All of a sudden a bunch of Victorians (as an example) know who NWS Spirit FC is or Moreton Bay and Bayswater City and will be watching them in NPL to see if they make it again this year. It builds the story of these clubs down here, and reciprocally VIC clubs in WA or QLD or whatever.... Its not just a once in the year blink and you miss it Australia Cup run from the usual 5-6 powerhouse NPL clubs, this is better.

Not to mention new eyes on "traditional rivalries" liike APIA v Marconi or Hellas v Heidelberg.... Older fans take them as a given but newer fans can at least appreciate and help continue the story behind the hatred..

Good to hear, one can only hope that sort of thing will become more common. I’m sure there will be more interest on the goings on in nsw and vic from either side of the border given the increased level of cross over. As many on here will know from my previous posts I’ve always felt the traditional clubs from both Sydney and Melbourne are a stronger prospect and generate more interest together than diluted across 2 separate state leagues.

Marconi and APIA played each other 5 times last season in all competitions. 2 home and away in the npl, npl finals, Australia cup round and Australian championship. May as well start the 2026 season in the same vein as 2025.

As a side note, surely Marconi and APIA don’t meet in the Australia cup again, it’s already happened multiple years in a row

Still a top player. I remember him playing for Sydney FC too.

Thanks mate! What really helped was the amazing work that people like the Green and Gold FC guys did to interview the players and coaches... it helped me learn a lot about what makes the clubs tick, their styles, which players to watch out for. It distilled each NPL into digestible bites for me - I'd never have had the time to form that understanding and interest without the Championship.

I definitely agree that the traditional clubs from Sydney and Melbourne, when combined into one league, add up to more than what they bring to their respective state leagues. Hopefully I can make it up to The Palace one day soon and see a game live.
