NPL 2026

On the bright, are they saying that there's actually money in the Championship?
Not too clear, he said that he owns the license to the Championship and not the Sydney Olympic football club members as they cannot afford it.

Towards the end, he stated he may sell the license. Considering the players there are on pay as you play and max $750 a week and also his statements that the Members of Olympic have never put any capital in probs means that the license will bought by someone else if he sells.

You can see the dude is burnt out from Olympic’s members treating him like dirt and then the APL pulling a sneaky on him. Sales contract before APL due diligence period is insane though. No one anyone with a good lawyer does not want to touch the club.

Has the Olympic fans had the EGM?

seems like the club has been taken away from the people.

Rivalries aside, it's sad to see the fall of Sydney Olympic.

Do they have many supporters? As long as I've been around (I'm 36), they have barely had anyone at games.

As some have pointed out ...... what a contrast to South Melbourne Hellas!

We here have to compete against, not just the A League clubs (and playing during the AFL season as opposed to Olympic competing against the much less attended Rugby competitions), but ALSO all the other suburban Greek clubs! PLUS Heidelberg!

Olympic have no excuses for their predicament.

Sydney Greeks dont care about Sydney Olympic.

Its hard to grow as a club if your own original community has moved on....
it seems the long years of banishment has really contributed but also its management challenges for so so long plus persisting doing nothing about a alternative home ground instead of digging in or persisting for Belmore up a creek without a paddle last 2 decades.
Belmore been a basket case for yonks.
Real shame for a once strong proud club having produced many good players.

Also the 50/60/70's ethnic onclaves have really changed alot the last 30yrs.

You can't blame the geography mate... There aren't many Hellas fans living in Albert Park or South Melbourne anymore either... They all moved out to the wog palaces in the suburbs decades ago.

And in fact if you look at a demographic map of Sydney, you will see that the Sydney Greeks have NOT moved out to same extent as Melbourne Greeks!

well yes and no re sydney.
Belmore and the close vicinity to Marrickvile once full of Greeks - both burbs very barron what they were back in the day.
They have moved to other burbs alot - alot further south towards Sutho areas and quite a few still around inner west.
Sure as not out west and not many on the north side but quite a few around Ryde/Gladesville but bits here there.
Mono, I ain't blaming the geography, just that no matter where they are they have abandoned or gone really slack supporting SO for its been such a shit show.

Usually means Greeks around though. There's a few around Belmore - Belmore, Hurlstone Park, Dulwich Hill, Marrickville.. just the few I can think of off the top of my head.
