MOVIE/TV QUIZ & CHAT

Of those sword and sandal epics what is your favorite and the most defining scene. Mine is Ben Hur and the scene has to be the chariot race. An awesome spectacle.

Ok deserts and j/sandals era fav
I think 10 Commandments parting of the sea was pretty epic viewing at the time.

...and what about that almost eerie sounding Zulu war cry. That alone would scare the crap out of you LFC.
LFC grew up in the school of hard knocks - the only thing that scares him is a 90th minute intercepted backpass with the score at 0-0.

The sound for the movie really helped to convey the hopelessness of that little rag tag group of soldiers.

I was always fond of El Cid (and still am) although not quite the sandals era.

My swords and sandals did not really come with a favourite, but I always liked the ones that had gladiators and people being heroically eaten by lions.

Who played the Cid in the 1961 movie El Cid, and who played Ivanhoe in the 1952 movie Ivanhoe?

Haha RIMB too true.
Yer that sound track did make that epic last stand fight against millions pretty damn eerie but good.
As for 90m or ET last min loss’s been a LFC trait some seasons hurts more than a pack of savages coming at ya haha

El Cid I recall a certain chariot rider.
Ivanhoe now that’s got me atm

El Cid is quietly quite a good movie.

Ivanhoe is set in Saxon v Norman post conquest time - so there is a dislike of one another and a lot of competition between the two races. It is best explained to youngens as a serious version of A Knight's Tale.

Even includes Robin Hood in a sort of cameo role.

Both are genuine classics. I couldn't call myself a football fan if I hadn't watched both...

Ol Franky Fring !
The young uns won't know he was born Richie !
This old'n did not know that either. So Frank Thring was a stage name. He was in quite a few of these epics.

Ok mr smartie who played Marcella?

I know but lets see if anyone else comes to the party plus I can’t say or speak anymore mono is waiting for the silent movie lessons
Is it co-incidence or cunning recall? You are correct about the Marcel Marceau film name.
