Melbourne city thread

With so few City fans on G and G, congrats on a good season so far.

Just cannot get over the quality of youth City are producing.

It's been their strategy since the start hasn't it? I mean since CFG took over. It was always going to take time to pay off, but they seem to have reached lift off, which is fabulous for Australian football.

Whatever City youth coaches are doing needs to be replicated in the other clubs.

They’ve basically got kids filling in places with a few senior pros, and relatively young seniors, Trewin and Atkinson, and matching it against other AL pros - and - more impressively, senior pros in some decent ACL teams.

Leckie is out for most/all of the rest of the season.
He is likely one of the highest paid players.
And with City likely through to the knockout stages of the ACL Elite.
Should City make a statement and sign a high quality attacking player in the January transfer window?
Or should they persist with filling in with youngsters?
If they were to sign someone, who might be available?

It's quite amazing the amount we've done for cfg we're punching way above with our young players and now getting results in Asia you'd think they could give the fans a marquee or a match against man city

They have some great backroom staff. Money buys them the best.

I was surprised that Leckie was given a two year contract given his injury woes. Will they bring an import? Last season Vidmar said that he wasn't keen on the January transfer window because it takes time to have the player gell with the rest of the team. Whether he believes that or not, I cannot say, but his boss is on the record as saying that the club will only pay what the A-League merits. So unlikely. My tip is that Lawrence Wong will start playing next year and take Leckie's spot.

They filled their visa spots so they can’t bring in a foreigner

IT'S FINALLY OVER: MELBOURNE CITY WOMEN HAVE LOST A GAME!

Melbourne City have been defeated in the home and away season for the first time in 30 matches! Canberra United go top of the table with their 2–1 home win over City! Canberra went in front with goals from Emma Hawkins and Michelle Heyman, before a Holly McNamara penalty pulled one back for City, but it wasn't enough as United got the three points and ended City's streak!

Two years since his last visit, and all they've done is move a fence!

If they have no need for the land, I guess you can't be upset about it. But it's a bit weird.

For all of your complete dominance against Sydney in the 2nd Half you guys still couldn't score.

Having scored no self created goals, from general play, for 6 Games, City is in desperate need of more attacking power.
A. Vidmar in the post match press conference said they would like to sign one or two attacking players in the January Transfer window.
What Australian players might be available?

Bul Juach to add competition/depth up front. Seems like a no brainer

For whatever reason none of Heidelbergs players have attracted interest up to now. Bul Juach scored about 30 last year, if that cant elevate you forget it.

Neither Caputo nor Nabbout are delivering. They do get the ball but are not able to break the low block.

hey mcg wanted to say gday and HNY, I understand your club have had so many home games on the bounce - why are you not leading or in the top 2 at least whilst BR and the screaming Jets are above you and can I mention WU for good measure :) haha

You're on my last nerve buddy!

Nah I'm joking we're had a mixed season I think doing well in acl is good and anyone can win the league
