No game time for Sophie Harding, who was an unused substitute for Fort Lauderdale United in their 1-1 USL Super League draw with Carolina Ascent, nor for Madison McComasky, who was not in the matchday squad altogether for Fort Lauderdale United.

Stuff like this would really discourage Aussies from going to America. Heather Hinz said a while ago that the physicality of the A-League was a shock to her as an American who played in both the NWSL and USL Super League, so maybe that’s part of it. Only the two goalies (Macca Arnold and Morgan Aquino) are guaranteed starters at American clubs when fit.

I know the WE League and WK League rarely sign foreign players but I’d love to see how an Aussie goes over there. We’ve got Japanese and Korean ALW and NPLW players who seem to suit Australian football well. We haven’t had Aussies in big Asian women’s leagues for years. Hope this happens soon, I’d love to see Aussie players playing all around the world like how Americans, Europeans and Japanese play everywhere.

Our players need to go where they can develop their skills, America and England are mostly out of reach.
We desperately need to professionalize our leagues so that the talent is developed here.

I mean that would be part of it but there’s something particular about the US. In contrast the Serie A in Italy seems more appealing now, even among players not of Italian descent.
 
Can’t watch much tonight as I’ll be at these night markets in Hanoi. However it appears that Aston Villa have shockingly opened the scoring against Chelsea!
 
Sam Kerr played the entirety of Chelsea's 4-3 WSL win over Aston Villa, scoring in the 20th minute and getting an assist on the match winning goal in the 82nd minute, as did Ellie Carpenter.
