Iconic Aussie songs to be sung at Socceroos matches (what do you think?)

TMMC, I am not suggesting supporters adopt this song for their clubs or country, unless they dramatically changes the lyrics. This is ok to sing along to pre match or half time to up the atmosphere.
sweeeet socceroos dun dun dun

cringy, but I suppose most crowd songs are but then sound great when everyone sings it

You could do a great football version of We Come From the Land Down Under with a bit of imagination. I remember the guys who posted on FVS back when it was around were great at that stuff.

asked chatgtp. Chorus is ok, verses need a ton of work haha but I like the references to Johnny Warren, Uruguay, asian cup win etc

Verse 1
Rolling in a battered old van, we roam,
Johnny Warren’s voice made the heart at home.
From suburban parks to the roar of the crowd,
Green and gold rising — we sing it loud.

Chorus
we come from a land down under
where rivals come and their players chunder
Can't you hear? Can't you feel our thunder?
The socceroos are here to plunder

Verse 2
Jeddah night — Uruguay, penalties flashed,
'05 we held our nerve and history mashed.
Then Sydney nights when the Asian cup was won,
We raised that trophy high beneath the sun.

Chorus
we come from a land down under
where rivals come and their players chunder
Can't you hear? Can't you feel our thunder?
The socceroos are here to plunder

Verse 3
Qatar nights — Denmark down, Tunisia too,
Leckie, Kuol, Ryan, Mabil pushing through.
Six straight stamps on the road to the world stage,
Aussie hearts unbowed in every age.

Bridge
From Johnny’s dream to the boys on the grass,
Irvine fights, Rowles stands, the memories amass.
We carry those wins, the scars and the cheers,
Green and gold forward, through long bright years.

Final Chorus (repeat / big)
we come from a land down under
where rivals come and their players chunder
Can't you hear? Can't you feel our thunder?
The socceroos are here to plunder

The world cup would be over before every verse was sung.

The best songs are short and sharp and straight to the point.

maybe just keep the chorus

we come from a land down under
where rivals come their players chunder
Can't you hear? Can't you feel our thunder?

"We have some sort of affiliation with the land down under..."

We play for the green and golder
Aging players and fans are older
In Melbourne it can get colder
You'd better run and get a stubby holder

C'mon Aussie C'mon - you're kidding aren't you? I hope.
It’s all in the delivery - if you sing it in unison in the manner of a 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿⚽️ chant, as opposed to the commercial bogan jingle it is in actuality, it ceases to be (that)cringy💡
I can't place Go Aussie Go at the moment, but I suspect it is equally as cringy.
😉

Don't try and place Go Aussie Go, it is horrendous. It is an advert, and an advert, only.

I always thought the folk song "South Australia" would work well as a football chant. It's a call and response (the response being extremely straightforward) with fun, Australian-centric lyrics.

I think it can be universally-agreed if there’s one song that def does not(nor should be made to) work as a ⚽️ chant at all..it’s “Stinkfist” by Tool*🤣

*(Yes I know they’re a 🇺🇸 band, but still)
