Green & Gold FC podcast

Fantastic pod. I really enjoyed the tactical analysis with Coach Rory. It was super interesting and informative.

I missed the recent one with Mark Crowe but looking forward to circling back to it. I know its niche but the topics you cover you just won't get anywhere else. I think you do an amazing job dreaming up the topics, sourcing guests, researching them and diving down that rabbit hole. I'm always so impressed and learn a lot.

Thanks so much, im always trying to learn every pod i do!

I liked what Daniel said about our WC, something along the lines of: It's taken four years, you've all worked hard to get here, now go out there and take on the world, show them what you've got... BUT NOT in Popa's world, the World Cup means prime "park the bus" time! How depressing for our forwards.

Yet people are satisfied we keep going Popa ball.
Where’s Decentric I’m keen to see his summary haha

Having qualified for 6 WC finals and 3 times getting out of our group I hoped in that game against Egypt we would have been more proactive for more of the game.At various though brief periods we did take it to them and looked good .However in the last part of extra time we went back into our shell and looked to be playing for the penalty shootout. The way Popa has set up our team we are hard to beat but it is difficult for us to win.
The pathway for young players is difficult as with only 12 professional teams ( and 2 of those in New Zealand) it is very narrow .So many really good players reach NPL level but their progression then stops there. The best young A League players go overseas and some make it there ,some don't.However those in the NPL who are talented are unlikely to get the chance to go to Europe ,the MLS or Japan because they are playing in semi professional leagues.P and R would widen the pathway as more clubs would have to become professional so that those lower down would be able to step up for possible promotion.

Good points on the podcast related to giving games more of a go (instead of just parking the bus) and I'm glad we are starting to have some very positive discussions about the importance of pro/rel. So vital for the development of players, coaches, administrators, etc.

I've been watching heaps of football, for free - watching all the top players/teams guys like you waste a lot of money subscribing to support corporate club football in Europe, LFC!

I have a lot to post in Socceroo stats/analysis thread comparing Spain, France, Portugal, the Poms, Brazil, et al, compared to what the Roos do.

There has also been a huge off forum interest, in person, face to face with past and current NPL coaches, NPL players, youth coaches, here following the WC. Off forum a lot more want to talk football ATM. I haven't posted much on G and G, if at all in the last few weeks, as I've watched a lot of football on SBS replays. Happy times!

To the best of my knowledge, you don't even watch AL football do you, FL? Why would you worry about promo/releg?

If you do, I'd love to read more of your insights into the Roos, AL and Matildas. In the past they've usually been confined to the Portugal national team.

Bah humbug you see it wasting money on corporate football compared to what ? Subscribing to APL ? lol
For a passion subscribing to global football is peanuts might I add.
Stop being a socialist when talking sport.

Its a fascinating question whether a closed shop with a salary cap is far left socialism or far right corporatist

Probably the worst of both, albeit without the mass murder which is a positive

I rarely watch it these days. My reason is because it doesn’t have pro/rel. I might as well support a McDonald’s franchise.

No point bringing in the above kind of outlook.
Plain and simple a closed shop is NOT in the spirit of sport especially football as we know it - well to those who have been around far longer than today’s brain washed new dawners.
Decentric smirks regards to the top end corporate game isn’t APL no different but worse, only so few are involved nothing to lose competition wise finishing at the bottom.
It’s also no diff to AFL/NRL structurally that irks my football DNA and limits our pond in spades and development.

I am a socialist.

In terms of WC football I'm enjoying seeing so many quality players and teams on SBS replays. I'm assuming most on here pay for UEFA club football. I have STAN ATM, but I'm annoyed they want extra cash for EPL and Champ League football. I'm not paying it.

Paramount gets me AL, ACL, Roo and Matildas games overseas not on FTA, FA Cup with AL, Aus Champ and NPL teams, plus Scottish Cup and Italian Cup.

Too many 'big lads' playing in Serie A. Like England in the WC.

Actually I don't smirk!

I smirk with other things you bring to the table - in a good way! You make me laugh!

I've assumed you smirk when joyfully telling me I have little knowledge of UEFA club football. You are correct, I don't, apart from Serie A and Scotland. If I could get if for free without a VPN ( many have probs), I would.

I 've also missed your recent outstanding detailed recounts of salient issues in the G and G Podcasts. My back is too bad for sustained ironing ATM! Was that a temporary LFC Podcast zenith for quality recounts?

Question for you blokes.

Obviously appreciate all the effort that goes into the pod. Just wondering how hard is it go get footballers or certain people in for interviews?

I notice with all the pods only one had volpato (sen) cup fever had Irvine, beach was on an afl podcast. Otherwise I don't think there's much out there. Is the media missing a opportunity to miss out on more stories that could be told?

I saw a Ryan one as well.
