Green & Gold FC podcast

He needed to be called out on his BS, so how he takes it is wholly his prerogative. It’s just disheartening that someone who’s supposedly followed the game here for even as long as he has still places blasĆ©/blind trust in the FFA/APL, despite all the evidence to indicate he shouldn’tšŸ‘ŽšŸ¼

Mind you, the fact he even prefaces his whole spiel w/the trite old ā€œfootball is a game of opinionsā€ IMHO straight-up outs him as a grifteršŸ’”
true BA81 your absolutely right calling him out - I'm just trying to tread softly with the young soft gen in fear of causing mental health issue - I mean heaven forbid they don't keep up with their SM exposure daily rate there'll be hell to pay let alone consuming too much plastic toxons and staying blind/ed.

Thanks for the effort you put into organising the guests. It can't be easy getting one guest, let alone 4, so well done! Thanks for asking our questions too - it was so good to hear the excitement around the Championship and what impact it's already having at NPL level.

Getting to hear Steven's first hand account of the game against Victory was awesome. It was even better to hear that they're going even bigger for this year!

There was a guy called R Brown who had a lot of useful training ground practices set out diagrammatically from the academies of Chelsea, Ajax/KNVB, Arsenal, Man U, PSV Eindhoven, Corinthians, etc.

They were brilliant! Gee, I used them a lot - and passed them on to heaps of NPL coaches.

Somebody posted them onto the forum.
Where were they posted?

I listened to the Nick Stoll one. I didn't mind most of his comments. He's a likeable guy.

But I but did raise my eye brow at the end when asked how he'd pitch to the NSL audience. I knew the response wouldn't go well. It was pretty clear he's never given that perpective much consideration.

If it were me I'd have said, focus on your club, and make the 2nd tier so exciting that it can't be denied. Aim for re-integration where you can hate the AL clubs on the field each week.

Random rant time:

His random recycling analogy rubbed me the wrong way. One of the most expensive services local government provides is waste management. Waste management costs so much because of real estate and transport costs (dumbed down explanation). A big chunk of your rates goes to paying that. Every cubic metre of waste that ends up in landfill costs money to get there and the physical space it occupies. The less waste to landfill = lower costs = lower rates or your rates spent on some other worthy service. They might even have more money to put into local sport and football. If you don't recycle, thats your decision, but know it costs money / end rant.

I notice the Metro Stars president didn't give you the tea on the Da Silva signing :ROFLMAO:

Yeah that was interesting

I can testify that my grassroots experience (as i say on the article) would have been much better if they followed the small sided games in the national curriculum. I think centralization is good for lifting minimum standards but bad of it crosses the line in stifling innovation

It looks like clubs are developing their own methodology, but we need a way for their innovation to trickle down (whether the suggestion i gave in the article or another one)
Who did you play for in Cairns? I reckon FNQ punches above its weight in football. Frank Farina, Steve Corica, Mary Fowler, Winona Heatley, Tom Waddingham, Shane Stefanutto. A lot of strong football traditions with the Italian and Maltese immigrants to the area.

I knew Waddingham was from up north but didn't know about the others

I'll pm you my junior club since I said something which could be interpreted as negative (but I don't think I was singling them out, I had good experiences there)

Farina (Mareeba), Corica (Ingham), Fowler (Cairns), Heatley (Townsville), Waddingham (Cairns), Stefanutto (Mareeba?), Thwaite (Cairns), Minniecon (Hopevale?) from memory. They're the ones I remember. Some big names and influential players and coaches.

Mareeba was where I was born!

@grazorblade Thanks for using my questions mate, they where answered in the spirit I asked them and really please to hear, espoecially from Danny adn Steven, that the Chamoionshup ahs lkit a fire under the NPL clubs... THATS what I had hoped they would say.

Loved to watch Tsekenis squirm, claimed it didn't hurt then spent the next 10 mins trying to say they were robbed by a ref decision for one goal even though they lost by two .... hahah it hurt.....

The ironing is piling up ( take note LFC) and most of my distance drives have been with my better half in the car. She hates sport podcasts. Might have to introduce Grazor to her, then she would like them! So haven't had the ops for some Podcast listens.

Really enjoy all the G and G podcasts. Can't believe how much I've learned?

Also, like another Pod somebody posted on here with Vince Rugari hosting Tommy Oar and Dan McBreen.

I'm something like halfway through.

Danny G's voice is quite distinctive and effective in Aus pods.

Couldn't remember which club Nicholas Olsen has been transferred to? I thought he looked too good for NPL/Championship when I saw Wollongong play South Hobart. He should be playing in an AL squad. Ditto Tate Russell, the former Western RB.

It was good to get insights into so many NPL leagues. Pre-season predictions are never discussed after the season though!
