yep, give him credit getting involved in the game and making a buck but he's a pup/green horn despite his spanish experience etc.....So old mates advice to fans of excluded clubs is "eh that sucks, watch the Aleague anyway"?
Yeah, nah thanks for the advice champ, move along.
Did he live in Barcelona for 3 years? Are you sure, I could be mistaken but I think he may have mentioned it once or maybe even twice.....yep, give him credit getting involved in the game and making a buck but he's a pup/green horn despite his spanish experience etc.....
Not sure whats to luv about him but yer got alot more to learn yet.
why I said re experience - 3mths if I recall and checked onlineDid he live in Barcelona for 3 years? Are you sure, I could be mistaken but I think he may have mentioned it once or maybe even twice.....
I can’t be stuffed watching the whole thing; could you timestamp when precisely he says it? Disappointing take to hear from himSo old mates advice to fans of excluded clubs is "eh that sucks, watch the Aleague anyway"?

TBF I was surprised to learn he got into the game back in 2001..bc I assumed he was an even-more-recent convert than thatyep, give him credit getting involved in the game and making a buck but he's a pup/green horn despite his spanish experience etc.....

Last 10 mins or so I think . Grazor asks him for a "marketing pitch" towards all "types" of football supporters as listed by Grazor. To fans of NPL/NSL clubs who feel exclsuded the gist was, sure thats bad but if the dream is to have por/rel they should support the ALeague to enusre there is a strong enough top tier to be promoted too.. The guy discovered soccer, wasnt born into it and draws a living feeding of the top flight... I could neve relate to his take, the game isnt a product to pitch, its a way of life.I can’t be stuffed watching the whole thing; could you timestamp when precisely he says it? It doesn't matter how LONG you have been addicted, only that you are addictedTBF I was surprised to learn he got into the game back in 2001..bc I assumed he was an even-more-recent convert than that
But as evidenced by takes such as his, it CAN matter if despite having followed it for ‘long enough’, one still falls prey to prioritising the short-term commercialism-aspect(as he’s clearly done by saying what he did) over playing the long-game that puts the sport and its constituent parts firstIt doesn't matter how LONG you have been addicted, only that you are addicted![]()
Different addictions... My one will only die if my club does.... old mate sees football as a fun passtime he can make a living from. But as evidenced by takes such as his, it CAN matter if despite having followed it for ‘long enough’, one still falls prey to prioritising the short-term commercialism-aspect(as he’s clearly done by saying what he did) over playing the long-game that puts the sport and its constituent parts first
Believe me, as someone who once would’ve concurred w/his stance, there is def a correlation.
I followed NRL in my youth - as well as football. Balmain merged with Wests = no interest in NRL.Different addictions... My one will only die if my club does.... old mate sees football as a fun passtime he can make a living from.
He also said if a league championship both go well then we'll be closer to p and r or something like that anywaysSo old mates advice to fans of excluded clubs is "eh that sucks, watch the Aleague anyway"?

Sure, Id be happy if for the last 20 years my club was in the Aleague and yours had to wait, for some indeterminate time and the finances of some foreign entities to align, another 20-40 or 100 years before you were allowed to compete for promotion on the pitch. He also said if a league championship both go well then we'll be closer to p and r or something like that anyways
I believe he said he became a football fan when 14 in 2001, which makes him 3 years younger than meyep, give him credit getting involved in the game and making a buck but he's a pup/green horn despite his spanish experience etc.....

funny you brought "age" factor up for I re read BA81's post on his surprise re 2001 light bulb moment for him.I believe he said he became a football fan when 14 in 2001, which makes him 3 years younger than me
do I get to call myself young too then?
I've been worried I've crossed the threshold of "old" since 3 years ago where I could no longer have a beer at night without feeling tired the next day haha
If Melbourne city weren't in the a league or whatever the top league Is id probably be going for victorySure, Id be happy if for the last 20 years my club was in the Aleague and yours had to wait, for some indeterminate time and the finances of some foreign entities to align, another 20-40 or 100 years before you were allowed to compete for promotion on the pitch.
Would YOU still be a Melb City Guy or take old mates suggestion and become a South Melbourne Hellas member?
I have a new pubmate who is very generous in buying beers on a friday night and it takes me the whole weekend to recover ifI have more than 2funny you brought "age" factor up for I re read BA81's post on his surprise re 2001 light bulb moment for him.

They DO have cheaper suits I supposeIf Melbourne city weren't in the a league or whatever the top league Is id probably be going for victory![]()
He needed to be called out on his BS, so how he takes it is wholly his prerogative. It’s just disheartening that someone who’s supposedly followed the game here for even as long as he has still places blasé/blind trust in the FFA/APL, despite all the evidence to indicate he shouldn’tand Nick if your reading our posts, take it with a grain of salt but constructive crictism, no some of us won't watch your AL it does not suit us.
