Green & Gold FC podcast

came up on my pod how the deficits would be perhaps even bigger if we had p&r. This is a crazy example

I always had dies Barca and even RM keep open or least culled back big time.
If I recall right both of them also get the lions share % of broadcast rights that would be massive $.

An AI post, Mono.

There was a study group from Football Fed Aus Tech Dept that went all over the world on a fact-finding mission to evaluate Football Feds comparatively.

There was a homogeneity amongst the then 8 defined powerhouses.
Just like they went "all over the world" to land on Popovic and Arnold before him as national team manager?

I haven't listened yet, but I can poke a hole in that quote already.

It was in 2014 that the licences were extended to 2034, not when they entered. If he's specifically talking only about owners, then those licences were updated under James Johnson to include the introduction of pro/rel whenever they want to.

Difficult not to think that's it's all just to protect owners and doesn't do much good for the game.

Indeed pete brought thay up

Any answers from him that were lowlights for you?
No point specifying, IMHO - the bottom-line is he and the rest of the closed-shop cartel are on the wrong side of history..and God willing, they’ll end up being the losing side🙏🏼

I definitely give props to him for coming on the show and taking tough questions. We havent had enough of that, so to be honest he has my respect and i dont hold it against him that i disagree on things and there were some pleasant surprises in there along with some (expected) strong disagreements

Having said that, fans do need to organise for change. Relying on good will alone from people in charge will only get the game so far

Not sure how that looks but it needs to happen. There is the football supporters association which could be a possibility....most importantly in my opinion is a change in the votes in congress

I forgot about the following letters! I was getting confused with all the BS excuses I've heard over the years.

And we don't expect pro/rel tomorrow. All I want is to see the pathway, a timeline. You know, something bloody professional coming from FA. As a guide:

Two years of this format.
Then three years of NST league with no relegation but promotion from NPL either via merit or licence.
Then three years of NST pro/rel with NPL, and a League Cup with A-League.
Then two years of promotion to A-League but no relegation from it.
By then it's 2035 and we have a fully connected pyramid with pro/rel.

At the moment, they're making it up as they go along. And they'll use another excuse that they can't just bring in pro/rel on short notice.... That's why you need to have a plan, stupid!

I can live without exact years, exact years was a mistake for the nst according to both the fa and the aafc

but yes we need a concrete plan with contingencies for what happens if plan a doesn't work

Another excellent pod mate and congrats an getting an actual board member to front up. Like you, all respect to Joseph for answering the hard questions, but I have to say the whole thing left me even more disillusioned with FA than previously.

My read is that they are focused on generating a massive database of clients (probably to monetise) and ensuring they have a healthy budget surplus to the detriment of actual football outcomes... NOT what I want or expect from my football federation.

The gaslighting of AAFC and how the FA board would rather engage with clubs rather than a organisation set up by 35 of these so called club is quite disappointing. Your questions around NST expansion and WHAT actual metrics are being assessed for this first season were met with platitudes round the growth of the women's game and a lame justification of how the voting block of FA is structured in a fair and transparent way.... I saw you get very agitated with the slight on economists btw, not dissimilar to how us down in the weeds outside the APL tent feel when we hear about how little regard the "suits" have for the actual needs of anyone NOT feeding from the trough.

Pro/Rel will NEVER be a reality in this country with the APL... For those yet sceptical, an FA board member is STILL parroting the 2034 protectionism clause.....

Best we can ever hope for is a fleshing out of the complete pyramid under the Australian Championship and an organic growth for 99% of our participants...

Been saying this for a decade at least. It's just money, if you've paid a large fee for a franchise why would the APL/FA want to "promote" anyone into the top tier of football who hasn't paid and why would someone who has paid want to be relegated somewhere where they will essentially cease to exist in the monetisation sense of the word. Not rocket science. I'll go on record ( again ) and say there will never be promotion/relegation in this country regardless of whether the FA or APL is holding the franchise purse strings.
