General A Leagues thread (Men and Women) 2025/26 season

MCG, its a small little pool here - how it is and I'm sure considering the lack of $ even just 10K more some would jump.
Forget bringing up the eggball stuff - they got heaps of $ to keep the key players they want to keep.

To be fair that Fraser guy has only been at the Wanderers about half a season. Not as though he's part of the furniture or anything.

Also another cross town swap, Vedran went to WSW and Andrew Redmayne went to Sydney FC. We all know who got the better of that deal.

Matey ALL of modern football is sanitised... You were born 50 years too late if you wanna go back to the time where a derby, any derby, meant hating the other club - not just the players or the town or the other supporters but the actual club as an entity. Wnting them to not only lose (even when they played abroad) but to get smashed. Now its just ""Grr we hate xyz because marketing tells us we have ALWAYS hated them" I mean look at State of Origin, the NRL packs out the MCG with dumb cunt Melbournians actually paying to watch a sport they dont really understand between two states none of them support........

Not directly but R9 played for both too. Plus Sol Campbell went from Spurs to Arsenal on a free whilst he was captain. Bayern have stolen heaps of Dortmund kids. Lots of Chelsea players and managers have ended up at Arsenal and Spurs. Our very own Harry Kewell was a Leeds legend then went on to play for Galatasaray. All very controversial moves. Rivalry comes from the FANS, not the players. If two footballers beefed does that create a derby?

I heard an interesting opinion yesterday. Apparently, as South Melbourne has now gone fulltime operation, the FA and FIFA deems us a professional club (so there are now 11 in Australian not 10) and therefore we can charge transfer fees AND get paid training compensation for players? I have no faith any of that is true but perhaps someone might know?
 
I remember playing football at a park with Europeans and we wear bibs and swap them every now and then to keep the match fair and even. That's what Australian football feels like to me
