Perfect timing from PFA... Poor WIndley hasnt even announced what club he is trying to "welcome to Wrexham" and the PFA wants to talk about adding a few more deadbolts to the door.

that definitely seems the intention

having said that his proposals do the opposite, even his bad ideas (like revenue sharing from transfer market) would make it easier for promoted clubs

Mate, for an organisation trying to increase revenue through selling players, sharing what meagre sales they get with nonperforming rivals seems an ODD way to icnentivise clubs to have strong academies...

yeah I'm baffled that at all levels you see the same economic fallacy of central planning rearing its head over and over....I know economics gets demonized as an academic field but surely people can at least believe that people and organizations respond to incentives....

Absolutely no mention of the PFA looking at pro/rel. That's not great. It literally only has to be a playoff spot.

Revenue sharing I understand but I'm not a great fan of, it's very anti-sport. And I wouldn't want my club donating to useless scams like WU, they made their bed.
 
Beau Busch's treatise smacks of mediocrity. Keeping the A League is its neat little pocket, not upsetting anyone and keeping the disrupters at bay.

His model will NEVER Achieve Australia having the premier Football competition in Asia, which is what we should aim for.

Reality is we have a population (including visa holders of various categories) of approximately 30 million. We have one of the best GDP's in Asia. We should play to our strengths.
 
I'm always a bit behind, as I don't usually get to catch up with all the AL games played until a day before the next round.

I'm about 20 off mins into the Jets/Glory game, having watched the 3-4 mins highlights.

I think Jets are playing the best football ever seen in the AL.

Why?

Whereas Ange's Roar dominated possession, it was often sterile domination - i itn that wasn't in the attacking third.

This Jets team has set a new high level of working tight spaces in the attacking half/third. They are so good at passing and moving in tight spaces in attack, yet are still able to maintain possession of the ball. Apart from Lachlan Rose, they are all so young too.

I'd love to see what Milligan is doing so well on the training track?

I agree with Milligan that Max Burgess should be considered for Socceroo selection.

well here we are eh.........and the PFA is just one of the stumbling blocks.
Whilst many here fap on about how good we have developed ? well yes we have, become better professionally and we are a development league as been said - therefore its succeeding.

He is also on the board at Manly United FC where he also did a bit of coaching for the U8s (not sure if he still does). Point is, he would have first hand knowledge and experience about grassroots football and I'm sure some experience with talent loss as a result of poor development pathways.

He's a invested punter like us better still he's a good journo imo and talks the talks - my comment just a journo because some would expect one from a higher standing or background would have more cred for eg.......I can imagine those reddit or roar would think otherwise.

The PFA don’t help tbh, if I’m not correct they were against a transfer system inside the aleague also?

Sometimes having too many voices is not a good thing, the FA along with the APL should just go ahead and create a blueprint for future growth of the progressional game via expansion and the championship clubs as a way of growing the amount of clubs and where pro/rel fits into all of this.


If means a criteria of some sort then so be it, I like how they do it in Japan with the J-League criteria something like that could work here.

Again agreeing to something is quite challenging in Australia, which is frustrating to say at least.

The way it works (or more importantly doesn't work) is that every group wants different things.
Group A says we want X.
Group B says you can have X as long as we get Y.
Group C says you can have Y as long as we get Z.
Group A says you can have Z as long as we get β.
and so on and so on.
Nothing happens because every boardroom wants to exercise their voting power.
Nobody wants to compromise.
Everyone suffers. Some more than others.
Nobody wins.

Not disagreeing with you guys - just listen to Johnston/Foz etc link - it doesn't also have to be that complicated to develop skill from Jnr levels as well and academy here there everywhere and so much $ people pay.
FIFA have endorsed a few things Johnston has done, he's been to plenty FIFA conferences with alot of support, whereas here he's given up passing on his knowledge/experience for free - no one wants to even listen or take it in from way back for exactely what you have posted above someguyfc prevails.

The FA would be wise to look at Tom Byer if they want develop skill level at the base, too much focus on academies when it starts much earlier than that.
P.S not having a go at Johnston, clearly they is alot passion in developing the game here, they just got to come together as @someguyfc said everyone suffers but nobody wins because everyone wants to exercise their own power.
 
Jonno has been trying to change the system for 20 years, he upset FFA so got totally ignored. And so here we are 20 years later, still playing the same way
