I'm worried about Wellington, i think they are gonna be the new Bris Roar, there recruitment has been piss poor. I think we will be fighting for the spoon with Adelaide this season. We even had a player turn us down and rather play in the NPL then join the club, Deklan Wynne said No, the striker at Heidelberg said No and the No10 at Sth Melbourne said No!. like wtf man.
Wellington managed to sign Ramy Najjarine on deadline day but if we end up winning the spoon then I won't be surprised if Chiefy ends up getting his marching orders either at season's end or midseason. I think the women's team looks better than the men's as it stands now.

Perth glory this afternoon cancelled a friendly with little to no warning for Perth SC, really poor as people were already on there way to the ground and the people have really posted on social media saying this is why there is a lot disgruntled fans , one step forward , 2 step backs

I think there's a huge disconnect between the clubs and the fans in this league. Can't really think of one club that is transparent with the fans.

Anyone know if a league fantasy is happening

Official A-League fantasy died season before last, probably part of the big APL budget cuts

There has been Sportsdeck running unofficial comps for a long time but that seems to be done too as its been transitioned to Supercoach, and it doesn’t seem like there will be an A-League Supercoach

There is World Fantasy Soccer which will be opening soon, its basically in FPL format if you’ve ever played that https://worldfantasysoccer.com/season/20174

TBH no squad seems to stand out to me this season. The big problem for CCM is the off the field.

Last season they had trouble scoring and conceding and a GD of -22

This season there are some reasons for optimism - mainly due to injury returns
1) They have no ACLE travel
2) Recruitment while pretty sparse does cover need. Donachie for Sainsbury injury and Redmayne to vie with or replace DPC, Kennedy to deputise for to Mauragis and others in the backline.
3) Brad Tapp, Ryan Edmondson and Miguel di Pizio hopefully back with full seasons after injuries hurt them last season.
4) Youngsters like Arthur De Lima, Abdul Faisal, Nicholas Duarte, Bailey Brandtman and Haine Eames with a year more experience.
5) Some prospects in the Academy side
6) Possible return of Doka and Ngor in January

I'm not expecting miracles but think we will avoid the spoon. To finish above Newcastle would be a bonus

Sydney FC have picked up another Western Farmland FC refugee in Ben Garruccio. He'll go well at the left back position. Their roster is starting to come together quite well despite Dougie Costa never coming back.

Any idea when this opens?

Can you still sign free agents after the transfer period has closed?

Can you still sign free agents after the transfer period has closed?
According to Chat GPT

Yes, players who are free agents (i.e. uncontracted players) can be signed outside the transfer window in the A-League.

Here's how it works:

Transfer Window Rules:
The transfer window (usually two per year – pre-season and mid-season) restricts player movements between clubs, especially for players under contract.

Free Agents Exception:
Players who are not under contract with any club (free agents) can be signed at any time, even after the transfer window has closed.

A-League Specific Notes:

The A-League follows FIFA's global transfer regulations, which allow clubs to sign free agents outside the window.

Clubs must still register the player through the proper channels (Football Australia & league systems).

The player must be eligible under the league's registration and squad rules (e.g. within foreign player limits, salary cap, etc.).
