Forum discussion

Long time no post.

Mod decisions that are not up for public debate is why I no longer post here after multiple posts of mine were taken down for questioning, publicly, some of the decisions.

I'll pop in occasionally for a look but to be honest I couldn't be arsed if that's how the joint is going to be run.

Cheers to those asking about me. I'm well and good.
Thanks for the update, all the best(sincerely).

I’m not sure any other forum I’ve been on has public discussion about Moderating decisions? Also, owners and staff have to make decisions as to what is best for an entire forum, not one’s pet interests. The latter can sometimes inadvertently destabilise a forum. As simply exclusive participants on a forum, or Facebook group, it is difficult to have the same objective overview as staff/mod panel.
Yeah, I think @Quicky has summed it up well.

It’s a fairly standard approach across most forums and online communities that moderation concerns are handled privately rather than through public posts.

That doesn’t mean people can’t disagree with decisions or raise concerns. They can. It just means those concerns are best raised directly with the mod team so they can be reviewed fairly, respectfully, and with the full context.

We want threads to stay focused on the topic at hand, and we also want members and moderators to be treated respectfully.

As @Quicky said, if anyone has an issue with a moderation decision, they’re welcome to contact the mod team privately, or escalate it to me if they feel it needs another look.

One day, a poster by the name of Lupi wandered through Aussie Abroad and beyond, making himself known, usually by tearing into players after poor performances.

Now, Lupi claimed he was simply a truth teller, saying what others wouldn’t. But the townsfolk were not convinced. To them, he was more of a chaos merchant, stirring reactions and derailing threads.

The elders of G&G stepped in and gave a warning. Take issues to private messages, not the town square. But Lupi did not listen.

Instead, he pushed his luck.

A thread appeared, not for discussion, but to take aim at the very mods who had warned him.

And, well, you can guess how that story ends.

Ah damn. So basically just a troll with a temper?
Funny thing is I think the mods probably would have found a way to make it work if he actually liked football, guy seemed just care about politics, even if he was a eurosnob who posted regularly about his european club/countries performances

From a participant's perspective, Lupi was entertaining - most of the time. He made me laugh.

However, if Lupi disrupted other settings where I am a Mod, I would probably have to evaluate him differently - from the perspective of an entire forum operating well.
