Mike surely you could spend some time here for a yak and good discussion amongst us supporters also ?
Got to spread the goss for as you know were lacking media and SM input.
Post up an article in Fan View it would get some good runs on the board I’m sure !

I'm here now. Ask me anything.

Thoughts on the new aus championship?

I'm all for it.

We needed something to bridge the gap between the A-League and the state leagues, and as we saw from the opening round, there's some genuine interest there.

I had a chat with the Moreton City Excelsior coach today, and he was buzzing about the whole thing. I really think it's something the game desperately needed.

That said... a couple of things concern me. Football Australia is underwriting a lot of the costs, so how long can they keep that up? (Two seasons is the rumour).

And secondly... has interest already peaked? They had a lot of curious observers watching on last weekend, but they're up against the A-League from here on in.

I'll follow the whole competition, but I do hope interest doesn't tail off from here.

Good to hear

we sure have needed something like this long overdue !

I would hope after 2 seasons most of the Clubs have prepared themselves to take some/most of the $ load chasing more sponsers over the 2yrs for I suppose FA have given them that start up and to put up or shut up ?

Well good question - how many who watched are football starved long off season A-L supporters - sure maybe a small % ? we shall see, one wonders what the $ threshold is for each club for it would vary quite a bit.
One Club that will gain ziltch is SU by the sound of the security imposed by the FA and for opposing Clubs SU away games, this coming Friday game is costing APIA a motza to host SU - how do you see this MT ?

I think it will have some ups and downs no doubt nothing for certain - the afternoon koffs are challenging for many I expect, IF the games keep delivering "quality" football its all the semi pros can do and its up to supporters to pull their fingers out.

Just excellent articles on current and unique stories. The in depth stuff getting interviews with the source.

Was concered it'd be a lot of parroting via the media grapevine or focus on the ridiculous stuff such as football influencers or the 100th Messi article. I think that's where Keep up went wrong. Just felt like a done up sports bar focusing on the mainstream, repeated less relevant stuff.

Yep, I’m finding Football360 to be excellent. It’s pretty much become a one stop shop for football journalism in this country for me. I thought TWG website in its day was pretty good, but so far I’d say Football360 is at least as good.

Simon Hill interviewing Segecic. This is exactly how I hoped this site would be. Pulling out the big names for the big stories.

How would it work? Hill just paid a contractor rate for the gig?
Would be brilliant if they did a volpato interview

Just want to know where he is at even if undecided

This was an interesting article

I guess the glass half full read is that the amount of cash in the game from all the streaming services could open up some possibilities for lower leagues in Australia including the championship

as the article focuses on though, its a lot of money

You got your wish mate.

I also had a chat with the new Borussia Dortmund chief executive the other day. Primarily because there's some work going on in the background to try and stage a pre-season friendly between the Bundesliga giants and cult club FC St. Pauli at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

I asked the CEO point-blank if it was going to happen any time soon. He prevaricated - no doubt because there are plenty of other lucrative Asian markets to host friendlies in - but I know there's work going on in the background to try and bring BVB down under.

nice, it does read like he is leaning towards italy as his first choice still

I liked Volpato's straightforwardness about his love for Italian football and culture. and his desire to make the Azzuri. He seems level headed and though I would love him in the Socceroos setup I can understand his preference for Italy.
