Even though it was traumatic when the Socceroos were knocked out in the pen shoot out, it has been nice to be a neutral and just admire the quality of some teams at the WC.

* The best technical teams I've seen are Spain, Portugal ( when playing Spain) and France. I'll go into more detail in the Socceroo match analysis/stats thread, and the differential with the Roos.

* Have been astonished that Tuchel didn't take shorter players with lower centre of gravity, like Phil Foden and Cole Palmer? Maybe Tuchel had too much talent to choose from?

England 's huge, tall team, with most of the players 1.85 and 1.88 metres tall, ( 6 feet 1 and 6 feet 2), couldn't jockey the shorter nimble Argentinian players on the ball after the English Gordon goal and when the Poms subsequently parked the bus.

In central midfield Rice and Anderson, were too big and cumbersome, to stop Messi and his mates beating them, with most of the English team the same.

Conversely, Norway had a few even taller CBs, but they still had 3-4 shorter players on the pitch.

I don't think the poblem was England's height, it was that England didn't exploit it enough in either attack or defence

100% And I'm also 100% that Barco was being a shit and got the better of Bellingham who then crossed a line. But in the grand scheme of things it was handbags. Outrage bait in slow-motion like everything else. I don't condone it but at the very least they are old enough and ugly enough to give as good as they get.

I don't know about that... Being an arsehole and baiting the opposition bench is a prick act but it was a fairly emotionally charged match and, as much as I despise players thet celebrate like that, being king hit from behind is a more serious thing. At least from my point of view.

My mum wants Argentina to win. She’s enjoyed watching them. I told her the only way they will win is by FIFA having there way and selecting a ref that will let them get away with everything and VAR to turn a blind eye at there fouls. She wasn’t having any part of it.

Decentric has a weird fixation on player height, and doesn’t help his argument at all by stating taller players like Cole Palmer (1.85 m) as short and average size players like Elliot Anderson (1.79 m) as tall.

The only way to make 3v4 interesting would be automatic qualification for the next WC. Same for the runner up in the final. With the planned 64 team circus it would be irrelevant, yet a 24 team WC, I can let my imagination run riot.
