Japan have a mentality problem, it seems to be their biggest weakness right now from taking the next step.

They lead against Belgium 2-0 they lost 3-2, they lead against Croatia they lost on penalties.

They were missing some key players but it doesn't take away that they suffer toward end of games mentally.

Germany lost to Paraguay is a shock no doubt, it shows Paraguay are a tough nut to crack.

Germany need to be careful, they could easily go the route of another fallen international giant - Italy.

they're not producing competent strikers

As in they’re not ambitious enough? Cause I wouldn’t call the Japanese arrogant.

Just desserts after German public broadcaster couldn't resist the political angle of the tournament. Now they can just show the rest of the games and shut up.

The fallout here is going to be massive. People not used to staying up until 2am now needing to get the 3am train home and go to work in a bad mood hungover.

All those kits will be half price as sales have struggled.
Imagine having to stay up to 2am to watch your team and suffer through work the following day. The horror.

Very weird Dutch side. Back 3 and for some reason Mickey van de Ven is playing as a wing back. Not a lot of creativity either in the final third. Morocco look more dynamic and have been the better side.

No not in that way, its like they are shell shocked when they have a lead against the big teams when they prove they can play.

Deep down they can play against anyone but do they believe they can win when they have the lead is another thing, a good example against the Dutch they came back twice to draw only because they had to respond imagine if they can play like when they feel expected to win.

I think they also not ruthless enough as well to put teams away, not today but top teams are assertive teams I cant see Japan as that side until they show it at a major tournament and not a friendly game or even at a World Cup game where the stakes are not high as this.

They still come across as risk adverse and reactive where they capable of much more, I also think they lack strong individual players they more players like Mitoma maybe blue lock unlocks this we will see lol.

I've never ever heard this from any of the referees I've worked with, but you may be right. I hear "lino" a lot.

However, my point was more to the commentator.
Might be a recent thing - but has definitely been around for the last 10 years or so at the very least.

but you are right, never really heard it from a comms perspective - only internally from the referees

Japan football has an inferiority complex. I knew as soon as Brazil was their opponent Japan would lose.

Japan took Brazillian football as their blueprint. Zico coached them. Many Brazillians played there. Respect is big in their culture but they hold Brazillian football in awe.

Anyway Germany losing
