FIFA WC 26 - Other Nations LIVE Match Thread ⚽

Holland could be a potential dark horse to win the whole thing if they play like the way they did against Sweden, Summerville looks to be their next big talent as well.

Turkey and Ecuador should be locked inside a stadium together and play and see who can actually score a goal because they are terrible in front of goal.

Tunisia are hands down the worst of the team of the World Cup, and shoutout to Curacao for getting their first point their keeper was immense.

Anyone know where I can get ACTUAL TACTICAL ANALYSIS of these games.

SBS coverage just had 3 different analysts tell me Japan scored some good goals.

I know they scored 3 good goals what I want to know is how they played and how they scored the goals how they moved the ball up field to score said goals fuck me dead.

Japan played using their usual cohesive and disciplined style of play and carried out incisive passing to progress the ball downfield and eventually find the back of the net.

Single pivot? Double pivot? Formation? How did they stifle BPO? High press? Or trigger?
I'll need to have a look at the replays to carry out a more detailed tactical analysis but Hajime Moriyasu was using a 3-4-2-1 formation, with his Tunisian head coaching counterpart in Herve Renard also using the same formation.

I've often thought that these TV companies should employ a Jonathon Wilson or Michael Cox type of journalist on WC punditry panels....

Former players might have that 'lived in' football experience but often dont have the intellectual bedrock or analytical rigour required to deconstruct the modern tactical and technical nuances of a game on live broadcast panels.

When a pure analyst tries to explain a complex tactical shift in the immediate, high-adrenaline aftermath of a match, they can sometimes come across as overly clinical or "preachy." This is likely why figures like Craig Foster occupy a complicated space.

I mean Foster was brilliant and arguably the closest Australian media got to that hybrid of the authority of a former player with a deeply invested interest in the intellectual side of the game.

However, that combination often manifested as a form of intellectual superiority or even smugness, which could alienate casual viewers who just want to feel the emotion of the win or loss.

Just watched the mini matches. Excellent result for Australia with the curacao Ecuador goalless draw. Ecuador with Turkey syndrome. Japan so clinical and warded off a typical choke Tunisia absolute rubbish. They have submissive African opponents and then can't do anything at world cups.

What stadium is the Japan game at? This camera angle is 50 million times better than any of the other stadiums.
Proper football stadium. The NFL grounds have different heights of their camera platforms. It's terrible.

SBS coverage also showed the game and the goals, so theoretically you could have seen how they played and how they scored the goals and how they moved the ball up the field directly.

I am watching the full replay of the Curacao-Ecuador match. I had to go out so missed the live coverage. I know it ends up as a scoreless draw but what an exciting game.Ecuador having plenty of chances and denied by the Curacao keeper Eloy Room. The Ecuadorian keeper also has made some great saves.Well done Curacao on achieving their first WC point.

Sack coach after last match, then fall behind on the next match
😮😂
To be fair Tunisia only just hired him, but it’s still pretty funny to think that the FTF were really stupid enough to think that sacking a manager mid-tournament would suddenly lead to good results in a group of death.

Tunisia weren't going to achieve much anyway. Woeful team inky gatekept in the CAF by having an intimidating gone record. Their hardest opponent in the ground was Equatorial Guinea ranked 91st and they finished 5th!
